Hey i have tried to do research and found nothing for quite some time now, ok well heres my problem u just bought a 98 GST wit 52k about a week ago and ive had a few problems heres my first one, when i was driving home from buying it doing about 80 stedy no hard driving just crusing it would drop rpm turn check engine on and kinda jerk but only for like a second, when i was home i put on a hks bov and ive noticed that when its kinda cold if i punch it a little and make it blow off specially in 2nd gear it will drop Rpm all the way down and shut off when its warm its normal but the first time it shut off on me it turned check engine ON and its been on since, and my third problem is the damn shifting the gears are hard to go in and i allready ajusted the clutch rod and still hard to go into every gear. and i though this is wierd because its low miles and its has not been driven hard its completly stock can you help :dsm:

If you aren't recirculating the BOV that is going to make the car die. You HAVE to recirculate the BOV back into the intake. That is why the tube is there. If you don't have one your going to have to get one. That can also throw a check engine light if it does it long enough. Check and make sure the linkage's aren't bound up anywhere and check the fluid level as well to make sure it is full.

Thanks man i though it might have something to do with the bov but how are u suppose to recirculate it, cause on every 4g63t ive seen before ive had mine it was vented like mine and all this time i thought thats how bov were

If you didnt get the SSQ recir kit wiht the bov you will have to buy or make one. I had my ssq I just made a recirc kit for about 8 bucks haha If you want I could show you how. let me know.

OK thanks guys i fixed it i just put in the stocker but can you guys please help me this freacking shift problem it is really hard to shift to any gear with the clutch all the way down what can i do this is making me not want to drive it because its so hard also im worried it could be a transmission problem :(

OK, first check under the hood where the linkage connects to the tranny; those connections need space 2,4and reverse all move those links a good 2 inches or so if they get cought on anything the whole system will feel tight. They can get cought up on stray objects ( I know from experience ) Then, under your center console look around the shifter to see whats going on there. I know the cables are adjustable I read somewhere, just search im sure you can find it. Lastly, drain the old gearoil and throw in 2 1/4 containers of Penzoil syncromesh. Theres also a bushing mod for in car and under hood shifter bushings that will give everything a tighter feeling, but first lets figure out the problem.

There was a thread on here awhile ago where the guy had cables that were unwinding not allowing the full motion that was need to properly engage the gears.

Yeah thanks i checked the rod i agusted and i guess i didnt tighen the net on the back so the rod went all the way wrong so i pushed it in and tighetne it and took it for a drive o man a smooth as butter just so smooth i love it now, thanks much for the help guys if it werent for all of you we would be paying 100's of $$$ so have a #### rod adjusted or told that you dont vent to the air :)

Good deal man ! So whats happening with the SSQV then ? :sneaky: If you want the how to on the recirc kit Ill show you how I made mine before I sold the BOV.

i would but i allready gave the boc valve back to my friend told him it sucks LOL naw i told him how youre not suppose vent it and he says you are and all this bulllshithw dont know shit about dsm i think now, but what should i do i got my stocker back and i think it leaks boos cause when i had the HKS even though it was running rich and shit it would get up quicker i think how can i do it so it will not leak or witch one should i get ive heard of people putting on 1g bov but is that good or what is the benefit on doing that

the 2g leaks at 10 psi or so....its worthless. The 1G BOV is superior to most others. Its all you will probably ever need. I have a crushed 1G and I like the performance just the same as my SSQV and I think it sounds alot better even recirculated, it sounds great. I would try my hardest if i were you to take the monor steps toward a crushed 1G BOV.

yeah im looking on ebay right now and tomorrow im going down to the wrecking yard to find a 1g bov if i find it will the flange be there too and will it plug right into my stock pipe and also what is a CRUSHED BOV it dont sound too good LOL :)

you know what i thougt was wierd on my stock one when it is idle i disconnected the return hose and it was blowing a little bit of air and when i ran it without recirculating the stocker it would blow off byitself at around 3k rpm so does that mean when its recirculating its blowing out my boost at 3k also?

A Crushed 1g BOV is just that. Its put in a vice and crushed to withstand more psi.

Yes your leaking your boost pressure back into the intake because of the stock BOV. Since you are running everything stock there will be no need to crush the BOV. As for the flange...if you find a BOV at the junk yard it will most likely be on the stock 1.25 inch piping I believe. That is to small for your current 2G piping and also the way wrong shape haha....go to ebay and purchase a flange they run about 15 bucks I think. Kepp us posted.

o thats why i feel the car kinds slower when i put the stock bov back in because in the other one i would feel it like it takes off faster and with more power in this one i kinda feel it slugish and takes longer to speed up

exactly. it's crazy how much of a difference those precious lbs. can make. Do you have a boost guage yet? If not, get one bc then you can watch it hit 13-14psi, then start falling soon after. Good luck!

Just out of cariousity exactly how much PSI do i boost stock cause i had a stupid buddy in a srt4 saying hes hella faster and ganna kill me cause he boost like 18 and i only boost 8 i was like bull but i couldnt tell him exactly how much i was boosting LOL

Your stock boost should be around 12lbs, but with that crap 2G bov it will leak off to 10.
