hello all .. im josh and well this is the first eclipse i have owned i have 3 rx7's and 2 mustangs ... i just got this eclipse from an older man who never drove it and let it sit in hes storage ( he did winterize it and started it from time to time!) the car has 23k miles and is in mint cond. the prob i am having is getting the thing to start.. i know its getting spark as iv sprayed a lil starter fluid to see if it would hit over.. and it do so i check fireing off my list.. also i used the fuel pump test connector to power the fuel pump and i heard it buzzing.. so i guss that works ... but when i turn on my key and try to start it nothing.. so i jumped the hot wire to the fuel pump just to see and i still did not get it to start and i know the fuel pump was on i heard it.

im lost now and need a lil help can anyone point me in the right way?

thanks josh.

23k miles! Tell me it's the awd version...

Well back to your problem, so you checked that the spark plugs do have a spark right? And you say fuel pump does turn on... But is fuel reaching the cylinders? Have you looked if they do get wet?

no iv not check to see if they get wet, i will do that today.
yes its AWD.. you would kill your self if you knew what i payed for it...

lets just say i could of got a ok computer for the price ;)

ok so i just went out there and took the line off the top side of the fuel filter.. the one that is hooked to the fuel rail and i did not get any fuel coming out of the filter when i hooked the jumper to the fuel pump up, but i can hear the fuel pump kick in.... now i have no clue what to check next...

Well, check and make sure there is gas in the tank. Maybe change the fuel filter.

Good point, make sure fuel is getting past the fuel filter. Disconnect the line after the fuel filter and have someone crank the vehicle to make sure you are getting fuel to the fuel rail.

Can you be a little more precise? Does it turn over and everything? Does it just not fire? I would pull the ECU and check it. May have a leaky capacitor. Does the CEL come on and stay on? If you turn the key to the ON position the CEL should come on for 5 seconds and then turn back off. If not there is an issue most likely related to the ECU.

i took the filter off and fuel is not coming out ,,,, well it is but really slow.. i mean real slow.

MichaelSuch read the first post.... i said it fires and turns over if i spray starter flued in the intake

its not the ecu.. its the fuel.. some where i think the pump is working but not good, or clogged or the line is clogged

23k miles in 19 years obviously means it hasn't been driven much. When you bought it did the guy say the last time he drove it? If its been sitting for several years whatever gas was in the tank is going to be gunk so assume a clogged fuel filter, maybe even lines, possibly bad fuel pump, and you would need to get the crap gas out of the tank. But even if it has been running recently and you are barely getting fuel past the filter then that still leaves bad fuel pump, nasty tank, or clogged lines.

I would pull the return line at the FPR instead, then you can see if it's making enough pressure or not.
Good advice!

i got a wally and i got a new tank. the old one was in bad shape ... well i say that but it was not to clean. so jut got a new one for 300$.
