DAD sucks. The fabric on them streches, and they look like they have a seat cover tossed on them. Same for NEX too.
I agree. Any 'generic' seat that is fabric sucks. I've seen abot 5 different kinds. Even the fabric on the Tenzo's sucks. Thats why I got these. The imitation leather is nice. It's stronger, thicker, and cleanable. Cheap fabric is not. :thumb:

My R1 seats are not that light. I think the cheap eBay seats are lighter, but not that light. One thing that saves a lot of weight is the brackets. Our stock brackets have WAY to much metal.

We just spent 6 hours making a braket for our passenger seat in a 2G. Probably will have to redo it to lower the seat height but very difficult due to different mounting heights.

question is.. how much do these seats weigh?
It's been a while since I held a stock seat. But I honestly think these are either the same weight or a little lighter. W/O the brackets attached, I would say they are lighter. So I guess it comes down to whatever you do for brackets.

99gst_racer, any pics or news on those brackets you had modified?
Yeah, I forgot my camera last night. We finished them. It was a little more of a PITA than I though it would be. I just finished the machining, sandblasted them, and repainted them last night. I probably wont be back out in my garage until Thurday, so I'll take pics of them then. I should have the seats mounted then too. I'll post all the pics on Friday morning.

i bought the cheap ebay seats...

tried making brackets out of welding steel bought from a hardware store. i found out how difficult it is, DAMN YOU MITSUBISHI for making all 4 seat bolts at different heights.

i ordered these:

Hopefully they will bolt up. If not, im going to sell my car, burn the seats, and go play in traffic.

I am praying nightly that they will bolt up. I can't explain the amount of beer, and frusteration, i have gone through attempting to mount these seats on my own, and get the right angle and level i want.

Hole #1 - It shows where the bar that we welded on, covered the mounting hole for the bracket to the floor. So we had to drill it out and then counter-bore it.

Hole #2 - Nevermind that hole. We measured incorrectly by one inch.

The only thing I dont like is how high they sit off the floor. There's really not much I can do about it, but I wish I could make them a couple inches lower.... This shows the distance between the seat and the bracket. Thick sliders......

... and i had to either buy brackets for them for $200 or more or I could take the bottom bracket from my stock seat, take the sliding assembly portion and top portion of the Evo VIII recaro and weld them together.

I welded together. LOL

It worked really well for me and the seat still slides front to back. Yous seats seam like they just need welded to your stock seat bracket. Go to a local speedshop they will weld something for cheap just give them the dimensions you need.

I'll have pics by the beginning of the week.
