I JUST FIRED UP MY GST!!!:hellyeah: i let it run for about 3 mins and then turned her off due to and oil leak. I have a couple questions though, the valves were ticking....how long does it usually take for the hydraulic lifters to stop ticking? it is a rebuilt engine and im not sure if i bent my valves or anything but it wasnt studdering or missing or anything. second question is that it was running 2000 rpms constant. will it eventually drop down or do i need to check something?

thanks to everyone! and yea black widow97, it feels like heaven! but it realy only ran for like 1 min with no coolant. as soon as i seen the oil leak i turn it off. also, i didnt even have a belt running to the water pump because i just installed it and it wasnt even dry yet. i know it didnt get up to operating temp at all. it literally ran for like 60-90 seconds before i turned her off. but yea, thanks for all the info! Ill be sure to put coolant in it when i crank her up again. i gotta fix this oil leak first though.

Ah yes, there will be a few leaks and other bugs to work out before you get her running perfectly. I am still working on a few small things and I fired mine up for the first time last fall.
