I just finished my head gasket install, I started the car to make sure all was OK since I replaced the water pump, timing belt, and just about everything else while I was in there. Well the car started right up and seems to run good:rocks:, BUT it vibrates really bad, the vibrations get worse the higher the rpm goes. I still have my jack on the oil pan and the drivers side motor mount is not put back on yet since I don't want to put everything back together and take it back apart when something doesn't work out.

Well could this be the problem, or is something up with my balance shaft or something, I never touched the balance shaft belt because it was already brand new though. WTF

i had the same symptoms with a talon the previous owner changed the timing belt and bs belt and had the bs belt incorrectly aligned to me it sounds like it has something to do with your bs belt. sorry i couldnt be more help

Its all good at least you tried, I really hope its nothing with that belt, I never even touched it!

Sounds like your oil pump might be out of phase. Since it is run by the timing belt and has a conterweight on it, you have to clock it properly when re-timing the motor. Timing Belt VFAQ (Timing Belt TSB - ENHANCED) There are timing marks on both cam gears, the crank sprocket and the oil pump sprocket. They should all line up with there respective timing marks every six engine revolutions.

Sorry guys, forgot to mention but no it wasn't doing this before but it was drinking coolant. I have checked the timing belt about 100 times and everything lines up perfectly. :barf:

I read the vfaq over and over and over and over and......I'm pretty confident that I did everything correctly!

You can still have everything lined up correctly with both belts and still have the rear shaft out of phase. So just checking to make sure it lines up correctly isnt going to determine whether or not that shaft is out of phase.

exactly like my1glaser says i think its the oil pump pully sounds like you have it off a full 180 degrees

it will sound something harsh like a v8 with only 1 motor mount LOL

oh btw you have your motor mount in right? im sure you do but had to ask LOL

Ok, well I guess ill put it back together, but its your a$$ if the vibrations don't go away...haha

Just to make sure. You did the screwdriver in the back of the block test right? Not being a dick just making sure so we can try figuring out other possibilities. I have had that on a couple of engines ive gotten or friends had done to their own.

I did that, but I did it the other way without the screwdriver, where you just let the arrow fall! That could easily be the problem though if that technique doesn't work everytime..... Thanks for your input!

Crap, I guess I will go rotate it 180 and see what happens....Another couple hours playing with the car ):

Thanks everyone, I got it figured out it was my oil pump. Seems to run good, I'm suprised!
