I bought my first DSM yesterday and already have some issues, but thats to be expected. Its a 92 Talon TSi AWD and its all stock.

When driving at wide open throttle everything is going great until 4000-5000 rpm at that point the car starts to jolt back and forth pretty bad acting like it hit a revlimiter. But when its not under boost and I ease the car up to those rmp's it doesn't do it.

I checked the timing belt and it needs to be replaced very soon, and I also checked the turbo and there is a pretty good amount of oil coming out of it with some shaft play in it. I'm sure that the combination of these two things isn't helping it along. I'm going to the dealership to get a new timing belt and some other stuff this week and I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on my situation or what all should be replaced with the timing belt.

Sorry if this is a repost, I looked around the site a bit and didn't see any posts that were like mine.

Thanks
~Mark

Hydrolic tensioner, auto tensioner, timing pulley, and probably the water pump, just for the fact that it sits behind the timing belt, and you would have to remove it all in the event it goes out. I would look into picking up a new turbo, as it sounds like the one you have is going bad, and could cause the problems you are having. But congrats on the buy, You will be very happy with it.

The jolting has nothing to do with your timing belt of turbo. How much play does the turbo have. Mine looks like it leaks oil but it is really oil comming back into the intake off of the valve cover breather. Check for shaft play first. How many miles are on your car? I would recommend getting a new timing belt and waterpump and check all of your tensioners. Most concerning is the auto. tensioner. Check to see if it is leaking at all. I have done numerous timing belt jobs without changing the pully's and tensioners simply because they didn't need it. As for your shuddering I would check your plugs and see what kind are in them then I would perform a boost leak test. Since it is a stock car I'm going to say you have some sort of a boost leak on your hands. No biggy.

The car has 161,*** on it there is a lot of shaft play in the turbo and i also notice that some oil could be coming from the return line coming from the valve cover.

Like you guys said I'll test for boost leak which I'm sure I have but its no biggie.

Thanks for all the help and I'm glad to be part of the DSM family. :talon:
