Hi everybody Im new to the forum and pretty new to cars as well. I just bought a 1999 Gs. Its in pretty good condition, needs body work but thats the least of my concerns. I'm interested in learning modding and about cars in general.

Car right now has a cold air intake. Pretty big but I'm thinking of changing the filter to A&M from what I've read in other threads.

Has a cat back exhaust and I know that its just piping. The sound is decent but ideas/thoughts on how to get a deeper/huskier sound? The last thing I want is to sound like the kids in my neighborhood with their riced out cars.

Lastly, the car is lowered. Extremely. The guy said it was as low as he could get it. I would say its about 3 in. off the ground. What do you guys think about that? ride is really stiff. Has a strut bar as well.

Any advice is appreciated. Again, I'm new to cars but I am a quick learner and great listener. Thanks

Maintenance, then drive the car. There is absolutely nothing you can buy as a bolt-on part which makes a significant difference in the 420A's power, so you're better off driving the car and enjoying fuel mileage in the high 20's to low 30's.

I understand that the gst and gsx are faster cars, but I want to learn as much as I can and push my 420a to the limit. I've seen some pretty fast 420a's in Philly at the races and theres a guy on youtube that runs 10's in his gs. I know it takes a lot but I'm willing to put in the work.

10's in a 420A is doable but one 1 member here that i have seen has made in the 10's with a 420A and its VERY modded and probably to the point were it would be a very bad daily driver in terms of gas/reliability.

420A time Slips

They are great cars! i love mine as a DD but ive had stopped all "Modding" to the engine due the facts i learned here.

All I was saying was I'm really interested in modding. The Eclipse gs has been my favorite car for years as far as something that is 4cyl and can be modded into something fairly quick. Its going to be my daily driver but I want to have it to the point that if I want to have some speed to pass or pull off the line I can. Thats all. I'm young and I have other bills so until I'm able to have a reasonable insurance on a gsx (which was double the price of the gs) then I'm sticking with my gs
