just bought a 1.8 but.....

I just bought a 92 1.8 Eclipse for 175.00 but it was ran HOT for bout 10 miles, It shut off and he towed it home and started it, It fired up, ran for a lil while shut off and wouldn't start back it will just crank over.

What all do u think happened to the engine? I'm dont wanna put awhole lot of money into it but I also have a 1.8 parts car that the crank broke in.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do a compression test. There's a good chance that the head is now warped, causing an improper head-to-block seal, resulting in low compression. Just start ruling out possibilities. Check the following:
* make sure the cylinders are building compression
* make sure you're getting spark
* make sure you're getting fuel to the engine
* etc......
