Im looking into getting the JM Fab coolant bottle but theres a couple things I wasnt sure about. The bottle Im looking at is there cheaper version which only has one inlet fitting on the top and the drain on the bottom. My question is this if theres no overflow tube on the bottle what would happen if the coolant were to boil over and theres no way to open the bottle to keep it topped off wouldnt that let air in the system? One more thing I know there some kind of sensor on the bootom of the stock coolant bottle. With no spot for it on the JM Fab bottle will it set off a CEL just being unpluged.Anybody who has this bottle or any info it would be great.

He is talking about this one.

I too was wondering the same question. I have a plastic Jaz version of this and was hesitant on putting it on just for the fact it dont have a boil over drain on it. Just one in and thats it. Then the drain on the bottom.

Doesn't seem like NHRA would allow an overflow tank that could spill coolant onto the track and the quart size should be enough to hold the normal amount of overflow from the radiator. The deluxe model has an extra fitting that may work for you on the street and NHRA for the track. Mark

I know they have a bottle with the overflow but its more expensive thats why I was wondering if anyone on here has used the one I asked about.

Im more concerned about if i have a over heating issue where is the coolant going to go if it boils over ? Anybody know the answer to this ?

I would email the company and ask them. Im sure they would be glad to answer questions.

I tried to call them today but they didnt answer so I will try them back in the next few days though. I was just hoping maybe someone had it or one like it and could tell if it worked out good for them

Just FYI I emailed them 5 minutes ago to see if they could build the deluxe bottle with no glass tube and he got back to me already. Thats service. I would email him and you may get a timely response. My guess is he cant sleep.

It looks to me like that is an air tight can, except for the brass nipple on top. I cannot clearly see the top but if there is no vent, the can would become pressurized and then would be useless. If there is some kind of vent on top, the can would hold coolant overflow until it became full.

I have the same bottle look agen i beleve it has a small hole in the plastic to let the excess pressure out

Hmm never noticed it as somebody gave it to me for free. Just havnt had time to put it on the car. Thanks for the advice though, i will check that next time im out in the garage.

So if it ever boils over the coolant would just come out the little hole you say is on the top

yes, But more importantly unwanted pressure will not build in the coolant system

Yes but that is for the Jaz one i was refering to, not the JM Fabrication one. I dont know if his has a hole on the top.

Another question. Is there a tube that goes down inside of the bottle to the bottom? You know like the stock one, so when the motor needs more coolant it will suck itslelf back up into the system.

yes Black94 there is a tube that is welded in that goes to the bottom of the can. It even says it on his website. It is a very nice peice, I just picked one up last week, and his intake mani the week before. He does good work.

I dont want to steal this thread. But since were on it, I purchased this overflow bottle and for some reason the coolant does not want to get sucked back into the cooling system instead it just dumps out the bottle. I have just purchased about a month ago a new pressure cap, and I regulary have to put more coolant into the system, any ideas?

So your saying when the engine cooles down after running the over flow is full and the engine is not ?

That's right when the engine cools down it does not suck back the coolant from the overflow bottle into the engine.

Sorry my question was for my Plastic Jaz Overflow bottle, not the JMFab one. I guess ill just have to not be so damn lazy and go in the garage to take it apart. ROFL

Doesn't the stock overflow bottle have a sensor that plugs into the bottom?

Yeah there is a sensor on the bottom of the stock bottle that was one of my questions what is that sensor and will unpluging it mess anything up?Also I know the JM Fab bottle I started the thread about has the little almost pinhole on the top to let pressure out.It doesnt seem like the hole would be big enough to let fluid out if it were to boil over. Also with no cap how do you keep the bottle topped off.I know they have a bottle with a lid its more expensive and I would like to save money.

Dont worry about throwing a cel without the sensor there. I have been running mine with a Code Red Mt-Dew bottle for a while now, no sensor...and havnt thrown a code.

Are you sure the engine isnt still full?
