Jdm Mitsubishi 4g63t Motors ?

Hi dose any one know if these motors are good i found one on ebay for $1,500 thats for every thing even tranny and said to have any where from 25k to 50k miles on it. I was wanting to buy this set up and to replace my 150k motor which has a major oil leak and tranny has a synriod out and altantor is on its last leg so i figerd i would spend the money and get a low milage motor and me and some m8s who has did a 4g63t 6 bolt swap help me put it in.


Just want to make sure its worth the money or should i get a rebuilt one? i just dont want to pay over $2,200 for a rebuilt motor which at that price is high unless it has a tranny as well

Just a question is there any particluar reason you would not buy a used engine from Ebay because I was looking into getting a 1jz-gte or 7mgte for a 87 Toyota Cressida that I have and one of the main places I started looking was Ebay. Just a question I was curious and you seem to have a lot of knowledge on this, the people on ebay usually advertise a warranty and usually they do a compression test on them.

From my experience with ebay engine sellers, they are not that accurate with the labeling of the motors. They say jdm on the title but, some are actually usdm. There is no problems with selling a usdm motor. But, it is the fact that they either don't know what they are talking about or just want to get rid of a engine that is taking up space.

Now, I am not knocking everyone that sells engines on ebay. There are actually some good dealers on there. Some businesses that have been around for awhile are starting to use ebay. Nothing wrong with that. But, I would rather purchase an engine directly from the dealer without going through ebay for that. To me that just isn't the way I would like to conduct business. I would rather talk man to man, get some real info on the motor and get a thorough description of everything. Also, a 30day warranty is kinda stupid for their engines.
Some will give you 90 days(depending on the price and motor) and a few good ones out there will give you 12 months.

One thing I look for when getting stuff like this is, how do they feel their product will hold up down the road. If they do all the test like they are supposed to and everything is working great then, why not give the customer a 12 month warranty?

But, there are also some jerks out there that just want to make money and not car about the quality of engines sold. I know afew that just got a hunk of cr@p for a motor.

I can tell you for a fact that in the philippines, people depend on used japanese motors. Filipinos call them "surplus motors". They are almost always in great condition and are dependable and cheap.
