I own a 97 eagle talon tsi with about 165,xxx miles and its feelin a lil sluggish and weak and i was wonderin what the difference with a jdm engine and a regular engine is and which would be better to replace it with

no internal difference, just the intake mostly.its better, but wont work without a jdm ecu.sometimes you get lucky and get a 16g with 510cc injectors.theyre way over-rated.just rebuild or buy one off somebody.

Since you have a 1997 (2g) you would have to do a 6bolt swap, aswell as a JDM swap.

THe Jdm engines work just fine, just take off your intake manifold, throttle body, sensors, coil packs, oil filter housing, ect ect, and swap over, drop it in, the 6bolt swap is more technical.

it is possible to by a 2g jdm engine, obdII but they are more expensive.

a typical rebuild cost around 1500 - 1800$ using equal to stock components.
typical jdm engine run around 900$ and alittle more for the tranny. ive seen some as much as 1800$ for engine tranny and ecu.

how technically enclined are you?
can you do a jdm/6bolt swap

these are the questions you need to ask.
