JDM 4g63 questions

Hi Guys Im from CT but im stationed in England and I have a Mitsubishi Evolution 2 GSR. My question is this cause i cant get a straight answer and parts are hard as shit to find here.... I want to get a new turbo header and the only one made for my car i found was like 2200 dollars, but i don't see why I can just get a DSM header off of a 2G eclipse being that its still a 4g63t. I understand some internals are slightly different and the Intake manifold is the cyclone intake or what ever but the block and heads molding should be exactly the same no?? what can I actually interchange between the 2?

If you can't purchase one you could purchase flanges, a collector, and piping to make your own tubular manifold. OR have a local machine or welding shop weld it together for you.

this one isnt mine but it getst he point across id go out side and take a pic but its almost 2 am ill put one of mine tomorrow. exact set up as this pic tho minus the nice Greddy BOV. i look up pics of 2G Eclips 4g's and they look damn near identical the way the manifold bolts up so idk

The evo 3 header is a slight upgrade over the 2g dsm header, if you can get a 2g dsm header, just port it and you should be good to go. If parts really are that expensive just wait till you come home to work on it.

I was active duty in 02-06 and we could bring home 1 vehicle legally after being at a permanent oconus duty station for so long. I had a couple buddies bring home Skylines legally and some earlier evos as well.

Yea but i dont come home till 2013 and thats a ways away.. besides theres tracks EVERYwhere here and i want to start modding it now since my other fun car is sitting in CT. if 2g GSX parts will work with minor mods ill most likely go that route then

Evo 1,2,3 can all use a DSM 1g or 2g Exhaust Manifold. I'd recommend trying to find an Evo 3 exhaust manifold as it flows more than either 1g or 2g dsm's. Also the use of a 1g is theoretical because they are almost always cracked and flow less than the 2g.

A great upgrade to any of these if you're looking for a new one would be the FP cast race manifold: it flows more than evo 3, its strong cast, and it can be had for as little as $175 sometimes when on sale. (only seen it once on sale for 175, think it was black friday sale)

Well, first thank you guys for serving our country for which I know is not a fun task or one people generally deem 'lucky'. However, you guys are lucky to get to bring back bad ass cars from Europe and Asia. Not only that, you get to drive them on some incredible tracks?! I'm truly jealous...

hmmm ill def look into it.. and this also means any aftermarket high flow header for the later 1g's and all 2g's should bolt right on mine right??

thanks man! its a decent perk i can only bring one home tho so I gotta make it count!.. i REALLY wanna bring my Evo but if all else fails a straight J spec AE86 would be a head turner too
