The internal heat shield on my turbo (the one between the exhaust turbine and the rest of the turbo) is loose. It spins with the turbine causing the turbine to bind and not spin at all. I JB Welded the heat shield to the rest of the turbo, the turbine spins freely now and would work great. HOWEVER... JB Weld is only good up to 600 degress and I know the inside of a turbo probably gets at way hotter than that pretty easily. If that doesnt work im going to try to weld it on the right way. There is no shaft play in any direction on the turbo. This is the only problem with the turbo as far as I know. Does anyone see something wrong with welding the heatshield on there? Are there any other solution or am I going to have to get the turbo rebuilt? Thanks

Well there's just no way that's going to work. JB Weld is a thermoset polymer. Once it gets exposed to the heat it will break apart. Good thing is it will not melt, just break up probably be spit out. Hope you did not gob it on because those chunks will wind up somewhere. How is it held on to begin with? Good luck TP

Im not sure how it suppose to be, but i dont think its suppose to spin. I did a very clean job of putting the JB weld on. If your unsure the piece im talking about, http://www.vfaq.com/index-main.html its the picture next to "Left side, bad, right side, good." about a third of the way down the page. If this doesnt work would a real weld work?

Ah, if only we could buy that kind of epoxy. Or, if it were available on Earth at any price.
