Okay So yesterday morning I was driving down the road pouring down rain and as I was going down a hill someone in front of me slammed on my brakes so I tried lightly pressing on my brakes but as soon as I touched the pad my car was sent into an uncontrollable spin and I ended up hitting a fence and slid into a ditch. Honestly the entire time I was sliding I am almost positive that the underbelly of the car did not hit any thing at all and the talon starts up just fine and rolls with no funny sounds or unnecessary friction but when I tried putting my foot on the accelerator it was stuck, like hard as a rock and I popped the hood and checked the throttle by the throttle body and it wouldn't budge. I checked the cable and it was literally at the exact same slack as it was the night before as I had just done some work on the idle for it. I'm hoping that this isn't a serious issue. Nothing seemed out of place in the engine compartment and I was idling at a smooth 780 rpm.

See if you can manualy open the throttle plate by hand( where the throttle cable connects push down on). If you can move the throttle plate easily then your issue is somewhere from the throttle cable to the accelerator pedal. Do you have cruise control?

^ what he said also look at the pedal assembly as you may have broke it

I agree ^^^^^

Cool. My 100TH POST!!!!!

also check if the cable is getting stuck on anything. If you have Cruise control then check that out too.

There is a plastic liner in the cable that can break into pieces and jam the cable. There is also the possibility that the cruise cable junction box has something going on with it. I would definitely replicate the issue with the engine off and fix if before driving the car.

Okay thanks for all the advice, it finally unjammed but it's still a little sticky especially after sitting for a while but once its up and running it seems fine. It had a bad clutch before it crashed but ever since it seems like it hasn't been responding as well. There may be a boost leak but I've been wanting to do some mods on it so all these problems are quite frustrating as there would be no point in upgrading if the engine isn't functioning properly as it sits. So If y'all can just give me some things to look for on the throttle and tell me how to find it as I am still trying to learn about this engine haha.

Take some pb blaster or spray white lithium grease into the throttle cable itself. Helps lube the cable in the liner, had this problem all the time with my dirt bike. Also spray the cruise control cable pulley system. If any of that helps consider replacing the cables and/ or cruise system because they are wearing out.

That's a little extreme. You can take the cover off the pulley system and just check to see if they move smoothly like they should in normal operation. If adjustments is needed, you can adjust the throttle cable or cruse from there.

Agreed^
Its the same process with any cable style throttle. Debris gets shoved in the cable over the years and can hang up the cable. Lube her up and she'll slide like butter( as long as the liner isn't f'ed up). Simple maintenace that will make a world of difference
