Anybody recommend a good jack for a 2g. I need to do some work underneath and am curious what you guys think works best.

odd question, floor jack works best for me. they get them off the ground well.

when lifting up your car high in the air and doing work underneath it always use jack stands though. and i recomend jacking on the cross member. you will see a little rounded spot that works good.

good luck

I use a set of ramps. :|

Put a couple bricks at the end of the ramp so my bumper dosen't scrape and just drive up them. O!, make sure someone else is there that way you don't drive off the ramps....

Either ramps or floor jack. :|

I bought a cheapo floor jack a short time ago. The first time I tried to use it, I found I had to raise the car to get the jack under it (solved this by driving onto some wood blocks). Obviously this is not desirable.

The really good floor jacks can get down really low. There is one at Harbor Freight that still has some of my drool on it.

These things are beautiful machined aluminum. Could be on my birthday wish list.

Whatever you do don't buy that like red and black 15 dollar rolling jack from checker or autzone or whatever. I made the mistake once. One it wont fit under the car. same problem you would probably have with the ramps. and the seal is broke or something because the jack goes down by itslef! which is scary! Get a good jack it will last a longtime and you will use it over and over again not just to jack your car up but they come in handy more then you think.

Get a set of Rhino ramps, Kragen has them on sale all the time for $19, PepBoys puts them on sale for $17. They're good and long so most cars can get onto them, and a couple of boards will take care of the really low. If you need higher than that, the regular old iron Harbor Freight floor jack is fifty bucks, and it can pick up the whole car.
