If you're running the stock smic than yes, that J-pipe is aimed/angled towards the passenger side

That install kit came with my big 16g i bought from godspeed. line worked well. If you feed from the OFH, make sure you run a restrictor or else you will push oil past your seals. If you feed from the head, you will be good

I was think of going with a line with a filter in it.

yeah you can still run that SS feed line and purchase an inline filter from Forced Performance. Heres the link to it. They offer 2 different size restrictors. One for full flow and one to restrict if you are running from OFH and need lower pressure.
