Well, hopefully, with a few acts of god and some luck on top of it, my 92 tsi will once again roam the streets. I was thinking the needed mods for my high 12 second goal. Currently investigating a ported 16g for a good price, and im getting a nice deal a turbo back exhaust. Now i have read that IC page that everyone links to about the dyanimcs of intercooling, but its still a little hazy. Given my goals, about what size fmic should i get, and is it better to buy a IC then custom/buy custom piping? I see all these generic ICs on ebay, granted some dont even look good, but i mean, what are the min requirements for my approx hp range in terms of core l/w/h? thanks, Mike

Friend of mine goes 12.4 all day on a supra sidemount and that's just with the stock 14b. But a FMIC will be alot better.

You can't determine which IC will be best for you according to ET. Think about how much power you're going to be planting to the wheels and take it from there. You can pick up the same FMIC i'm using for fairly cheap, and it should be more than enough to help you reach your goal. Hope that helps:thumb:

I would go with a gm MAF blow thru set up, but Ive yet to see a IC kit that inludes a 3in intercooler pipe for the MAF.

Any suggestions on IC sizes for my power goals? Im really looking around now, figure ill fab piping on my own. Mike

For 14b's and 16g's you'll want a core that wont have too much pressure drop. Just dont go with an IRC fmic, and you'll be fine :D

What causes pressure drop? I am trying to fab my own kit for under $500 total. Figure $300 for the IC, 200 for piping/couplers.
I found this on ebay, but i am natually skepitical. Anyone with anything good for sale?

FMIC

Other FMIC

Would these be good? im trying to model my setup on the slowboy/extremepsi core. Im aiming to not lose perforamcne even while i am still 14bing it. thanks guys, Mike

Personally I would push the stock side mount as far as you can, you would be suprised of the power output you can squeeze out of it. If I remember correct JayHess went 12.5 with a stock side mount and stock turbo, but the results will vary from car to car.

p.s. Either one of those intercoolers on ebay would probably work just remember you get what you pay for.

Im asking here because i believe a quality kit can be customed without the high price, not to get told the timeless, often wrong "you get what you pay for". Both of those sellers have near 100% feedback and many sales, so i mean, their product appears to be good, not good for the money, just good on the whole.
