ISC, FIAV & Emissions Removal

I am contemplating eliminating the above and the emissions but have a few questions before I do so. First and most importantly, other than for looks, what is the point of eliminating these. Will there be any change in performance or operation once they are eliminated or blocked off?
I only ask this because I have finally gotten my car running great and dont want it to run or idle poorly again.

It may run more rich. Mostly you have to remove it if you do a sheet metal intake manifold.
Keep the isc and fiav though. Don't unplug the selonoids, just the hoses going to them or you will get a check engine light.

So when people get a smim do they just eliminate those things and keep the solenoids plugged in?

not trying to change the subject or anything but seems like a good time to ask. HITT1 is there a link to 1g engine bay electrical connections page?

and if on a 1g you unplugged the purge control valve solenoid would this keep the car from cranking?
