Is this slowboyracing LSD for real?

It's not a real LSD. It's an insert. It will basicly do that same thing for you, but I believe it is only rated up to about 400hp.

Wait, so are you saying that is does the same thing as a regular LSD up until 400 whp? Still a newb.

ok, so this will work as a LSD only up to about 400 HP....well i only have a big T28 with supporting mods and i dont plan to upgrade my turbo...so this will work perfectly for me?

What DSMSpyder99 said is right.

I have heard very good reviews from it. Search around the Drivetrain forum and see what you can find.

so it only works under hard straight line acceleration??....im lost!
It works all the time, but it's benefit is not for cornering, it is for straight line accel. The way a real LSD will work, it will put power to the outside wheel during a corner. So that way your inside tire doesn't just spin and you go no where. But this insert basicly just locks the front diff. At least that's the way I have understood it.

so the SB insert works just as well as a quaiffe just without the cornering benefits? i don't think i'll be doing any racing into corners, on the track of course :thumb: so the slowboy would be best for me?

Like they said above. It makes both front wheels spin equally. That's it. A "REAL" LSD like a quafe will transfer power to the respective wheel when corning. But all this SBR one does is makes both front wheels spin equally, at all times. Got it? Pretty easy concept.

It is definitly not equal to a quaife (or if you want a GOOD LSD, Kaaz). I was impressed with the resuts in my old Talon FWD.

I talked to nate from SBR and he said so far they haven't the limits of the sbr lsd insert. He told me he himself made 513whp on the lsd insert. So you guys don't have to worry about breaking anything except maybe some axles LOL :p . I was going to get a lsd like the quiafe but after talking to nate i will hold on to my lsd insert since i am only looking to make 450whp at the track and maybe 380whp on the street :)

I was never impressed with my BM tranny LSD insert (same as sbr) on my Big28, nor am I on my 50 trim. I still spun like mad after the install, still cant tell if this thing is actually working or not.

What do you expect your fwd. I have the b&m lsd and i still spin like mad. Does it bother me nope. If u want to make sure they both spin at the same spin you can jack up the car on both sides and put the car in neutral and spin one and have your friend check the other and you will that they both spin at the same time. Even if you have a true lsd your sill more than likely to spin like hell anyway.

You can't tell if it's working or not? If both wheels are spinning, well then obviously it's doing it's thing. Pretty easy to tell I'd think

so if your only goin 400 or less hp then the insert is what you want! awsome!

Not necessarily -- depends on your goals. If you're primarily straightline street or strip, then go for it. For serious twisties and autox, my vote goes to a Torsen type like the Quaife.

Nice thing about the instert is that it engages as quickly as a clutch-type LSD (Kaaz); it's a little quicker engagement than a Torsen.

Wow I'm sorry, I was just posting my last 2 years of experience with this thing, I didn't expect to get lectured but alright. When on jacks, both wheels spin when rotated so at that point, yes its working. Did it do anything for traction, in my experience No it did not. I thought that traction was the selling point of these items. Many people have had luck with these units, I am not one of them. I apoligize for my negitive review but thats just how it goes.

Okay first off.....The product does exactly what it is designed to do.....

2nd traction depends on allot of things, if you running shitty tires your traction will suck, get some sticky tires and you will see a biiig diffrence.

They are junk in my eyes. Period.

I have seen one go through a trans like a hot knife through butter. They are not warrantied like the quality true LSD. I have little to NO faith in them. This is my personal experience, review, and thoughts. Take it or leave it. In my 3 years on the board people ask questions and then do what they wanted to anyway. All we can give is warnings and results. No need in lecturing someone for stating thier personal experience.

What a piece was designed to do and what it does can, sometimes, not be consistant. The insert is not a differential. Please don't confuse this.

whats better for handling with awd, the insert or open diff?
