Is this HOLE normal?

I've tried serching for an explanation, but haven't found any.

I'm fairly new to the DSM world. I noticed that my car had been leaking oil and when I jacked it up...I found it to be near this hole. Is this hole normal or is there something some type of gasket that would cover it by fitting between bell housing cover?? THanks in advance

It is a drain hole. It doesn't allow leaking gear oil from an input shaft seal or rear main seal to get on the flywheel/clutch friction surface.

The hole is fine, the fact that oil is even in there isn't.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I have to check all the seals because oil is getting into the housing.

Does it smell like gear oil or regular motor oil. Remember gear oil smells like ass.

I waited until I got home to open it and even then did so with my eyes closed, if this had been in the hangout there's no way I would've opened it at all.
