when i am at a stop with clutch in i can move the shifter through all the gears smoothly, and its fine. but when i am actually moving, even with the clutch ALL THE WAY in (like usual) it doesn't want to go into 2nd, and sometimes it will grind. Why does it do this? Is it my clutch? Do i need a new tranny?

Also how do i know when i need a new clutch, and what do you recommed

Welcome to the wonderful mitsu trannys :thumbdown . You will most likely have to replace your syncros. You could also put in some BG syncroshift. It will help the shifting a little better. Just do a search you will find alot of info

i read on a nother post i should drain my fluid or something and replace with that stuff (5-30(?)) how would i go about doing this? Or should i get a pro to do it?

if you dont feal confident doing the fluid, get a shop to do it. its VERY simple to do. Gotta find the right socket for the drain plug, Witch reminds me, I gotta go buy one.
