Hey guys, I was in the market for a FPR and I came across this one, its new and with all the hardware for $90 shipped. My question was has anyone ever used this before? and if I was to use this would it work with a 97 gst? I am slowly upgrading and I got a 255hl fuel pump, and I wanted to put it in until I get my injectors. Can I buy this FPR and put in my 255 fuel pump and run it for the time being until my injectors come and until I get link to control it? Thanks in advance!

Reason why I have a 255 fuel pump was because I have a 60 trim turbo and I have all my exhaust and intake work done like FMIC and manifold, wastegate, exhaust, intake so now Im buying up all my fuel mods to support the air ones. So I bought a 255 pump, im in the market for 1000cc or bigger injectors, link and im looking for an aftermarket FPR.

Also an off topic question, will I need a aftermarket fuel rail if I buy a FPR? or will I need to get one reguardless because of the direction im heading in?

Thanks for all the help guys.

Fuel Lab AFPR, 2g UICP, ROTORS - DSM Classifieds

hows that fpr..does that have everything I need to install?

Alot of the aftermarket brand name fuel rails are actually smaller than the stock 2g rail. The 2G rail is more than enough for anything you are going to throw at it.

First rule of being a DSMer...DO NOT cheap out on parts. Ive learned that over my DSM life and it only brought me more headaches and more issues. The price should make you look the other way. Sometimes when it seems like its too cheap to be good. It most likely is. Save yourself the extra money and do it right the first time.

STM has a nice kit..

So does ExtremePSI...and some other sponsors on here:thumb:

so I can be around 350-400 hp and still keep my stock fuel rail?

Its not that im cheaping out I just dont know which brands are good for this specific thing LOL. But I still think 200 for a fpr is high for me. How is that one I added a link to. The second one.

So check it you definetly won't need to worry about fuel rail for a long time. Also just get the 255 fuel pump your a gst and will barley notice any over run of fuel at idle to effect anything been running it like that on my daily driver for years without one.I wouldn't waste the extra money on a afpr. But if you want one just get the fuel lab 515 or aeromotive a1000 afpr.Don;'t even waste money on fuel lines eather making 550whp on stock lines and fuel rail on ony my cars.

You wanna be cheap.? Go with a summit racing fpr. It comes with warranty and they have there own rebuild kit for it. I'm using it and so far i'm a happy camper! $98 shipped.

I have the 255 in my back seat LOL. Wouldnt I need a FPR if I get 1000cc injectors and link?

Just to clear everything, I can put in my 255 and leave everything stock for the time being? like currently I have stock rail and stock injectors. Would slapping in the 255 high pressure model cause it to run like crap?

That sounds like an awesome deal with a warranty too LOL.

You can run stock injectors and stock rail with a 255LPH fuel pump. You will most likely need an AFPR to prevent the higher flowing fuel pump from overflowing the factory fuel pressure regulator.

I threw in a 255 when my car was stock and been running it ever sence I upgraded from stock but still have stock fpr.You will be fine.

The 255 will most definitely over run the stock FPR so I would leave it out until you get an AFPR. The stock fuel rail will go far beyond what your goals are so scratch new rail off your list. I personly went with the fuel lab kit from STM...still waiting for it tho so I can't comment on if I like it, but there is more than enough good info and rep for it that I'm confident it will be great.

These are kits so you can run aftermarket lines vs. the stock lines. If you wanna buy the FPR alone im sure its a bit cheaper.

Like the saying goes..."youve gotta pay to play" LOL

And I wouldnt worry about the rail. Itll go along way before itll need to be upgraded

Everything may seem fine but the stock FPR is struggling to keep up with the fuel that the 255 is throwing at it...

x2 throw a wideband on it and I bet its running rich as crap. SOME will hold the extra pressure...but not for too long.

So you are telling me after running on stock fpr for the last 4 years there something wrong with my car?I understand every car is a little different but it really hasn't effected anything.Have you even tried it yourself?Or just from what you heard?

Why dont you search the classifieds for a used kit? They go for your price range every now and then..

Some go some dont. I had a friend whos car would run rich as hell when he put on a 255. My personal car ran for awhile with the stock fpr with a 255. I guess some handle it and some dont. DIAMBO4LIFE I think thats his sn...ran 10s on the stock fpr

uh oh, i bought this tuesday. was a different listing and DID say 1:1 rate. from cxracing, etdmotors i think. im going to give it a shot. if it works, and i think it will, i will make a thread on it. im buying quality parts all over, but this is a pressure regulator. simply not that complex of a system and its not like 40 bucks either. i think it will be fine.

I hear what your saying and it's true some do some don't.I personally say try it and if is fine then you don't really have to worry about spending the extra $200 for a afpr.Still should be fine if it is a 2g gst they are pretty good to handle a 255 with stock fpr apose to the other 1gs or awd models.

clipto, you shouldn't be telling the guy to modify his car the wrong way. Even if its true that your car ran "fine" after you installed the 255 without an afpr but that is not the correct way of modding a car. To the op, if you are going to install a 255 you should get afpr.

Why run the risk of over running your stock FPR, running extremely rich and possibly washing your cylinders?? Do it right the first time, plus if you have future plans for mods, you are already properly set up.

Alright thanks for all the info guys I appreciate it. Ill buy the cx racing fpr and put it on. I also have the 255 HPH one not the lph. After that ill get injectors and link and turn that boost up :thumb:
