is this a good 1/4 mile time?

Well I was out at the strip last night and this was the best I could pull off... Here's my mods...hks ssqv, mbc, custom 3 inch intake, and free mods, I was running 15psi
60 ft= 1.963
1/8 mile 9.530@ 71.75 mph
1/4 mile 14.954@ 89.54 mph
Are those pretty good times or should I be running faster? And by the way this run was against a wrx wouldn't tell me his mods but he ran 16.386@ 83.61 mph

Yeah I figured I could do a little better, its only my second time at the strip and I only got 3 runs in...

take it easy and don't slam the car around while learning. Take your time and pay your dues to learn to properly slip in the clutch....you may also get good at changing them while you are at it.

Soon you will have it down to 1.7 in the 60

I would say that the 60' isnt bad on a stock clutch. Also, the 1/4 mile isnt too bad since you also still have stock exhaust. Looks like you need to work on your shifting and you should be good to go. Next time out, shoot for a 1.89 60' and 92 mph trap speed. Better launch(slip/dump tecnique) and quicker shifts should get you there.

i dont think those are to great of times. my best run in my gst is a 15.3 on 14 psi and only mods are boost control and a t-28. stock everything else...well except clutch. so for an all wheel drive that isnt to great i dotn presume.

15.3 isn't too impressive with a T28, even though your are only running 14psi.

I ran a 14.9 bone stock with my 95 GST...101,000miles.

Still not impressive. A t-28 shold make up for some driver error. And as far as your opinions, a stock clutch on an awd is really detrimental to its 1/4 mile times.

I'm not trying to be a jackass but even a newbie drag racer should be able to put down some high to mid 14 with an aftermarket turbo. If not, you probably upgraded way too soon. My first pass down the 1/4 with my dsm was over a year ago with just a 16g and if you look right below my user name, I ran 12s. Of course, I was a seasoned drag racer but more auto/rwd applications. I had raced my awd my many times on the street but once I got to the track, it was a different story. A 2.002 60' shows it all.

Anyway, this was for another inexperienced driver that ran faster on a stock turbo than you did on an upgraded turbo so I dont think your opinion has any any real standing in this thread. I believe it was directed more toward people that have some experience in the awd, 1g, drag racing community. Not 2g, fwd, inexperienced community.

Overboost had a good article on a 2G GSX that ran 15.3 on the stock slipping clutch, they replaced the clutch with a ACT and an intake and free mods and got mid 14s.

A healthy clutch is very important for the AWD's.

Yeah thanks for all the replies, I agree the clutch would make a big difference if I had an aftermarket one, I can feel it slipping on my launch and through 2nd................and yes this post was directed towards the awd 1g guys... I'm sure I could have gotten a better time if I got some more runs in.... And for the guy that ran a 15.3 on a t-28 I think that's terrible... how can u say my time wasn't good? Your car is lighter, you have higher compression pistons, aftermarket clutch, and you have an aftermarket turbo...

sounds like you did fine, a better/new clutch and some practice will make a world of difference. if i recall my first/only time at the track, i think i started at 14.5 ish, and ended up at 13.7, all with minimal mods.

i was having trouble leaving it in 1st until 7k, engine just sounds like it's going to explode! and didn't know if i should be able to make it to 1320 without going into 4th.

not to turn this thread in another direction, but does anyone make it to the finish in 3rd? is the top of 3rd in the 90's somewhere (with stock size tires/wheels)? i've read people saying they do 12's without shifting to 4th, but i don't see that being possible.

Is this in a different car than the one you 'killed an srt-4' with in this thread? If it is not, why ask if its a good time when you've already done a 14.2 WTF Something's not making sense...if you've ran a 14.2 as you said in that thread and the best mph you could get is an [email protected] from this thread, this would almost have to be a different car. Can you please fill me in?

EDIT: If this is the same car, you're new mods are not helping you... :p

maybe the 14.2 was at the 1/8 mile track since this was his "first run at a 1/4 mile track" :p

obviously, i'm just kidding around. am curious though about the mods making things worse?

Sorry about the mix up, my friend made the post about the 14.2, he's not registered 2 the forums and sometimes he uses my user name.
