is there any differance in performance between an ebc and a mbc?

Yeah for starters the EBC is electronic and the MBC is a manual. The electronic uses a little box that is mounted under the hood with the vacuum hoses ran to it one from the source and then the other to the wastegate, and then the wires are ran into the cockpit to the controller for adjustment. The manual is usually an aluminum bodied fitting that is mounted under the hood with an adjustment knob on top. Personally i like the mbc because from what i hear they are supposed to be more accurate for boost control and its really not that big of a deal to just open up your hood to adjust your boost.

And yes the Joe P is a good boost controller i persosnally run this boost controller and i am extremely satisfied with it.

Thanks you have been a big help. Does the Joe P MBC come with everything needed for installation?

It comes with the boost controller itself and some zip ties but you have to supply the vacuum hose. I mounted mine right on to the acc. fan.

A friend of mine had the blitz dual sbc and he had it set at 16psi and he still creeped a little bit, as far as preventing creep i'm not sure some of them might have this feature but i haven't seen it.

just from my experience....my car used to creep like crazy when i first got it and started upgrading it.

when i finally got my greddy profec b (spec 1, not the digital one) boost controller, my creep was gone, so im not saying that all ebc's do this, but in my case it did.

i also have a buddy who had a blitz ebc, and he creeped still, then he went to mbc.

so depending on which one you purchase id say.

Joe P MBC all the way...
this is a good quality product! You will need a Boost Gauge of course and to install the Boost Controller you will need about 3 feet of 5/32" Vacuum Hose from Napa (about $4). If you want to mount it so that its not just hanging there, go to Ace Hardware and pick up a "1 X 1/2 Corner Brace" (about 50 cents) from the Brace and Bracket section. This piece is easy to install pretty much anywhere in the engine bay. I chose the radiator fan as most do. Check it out!

I have had an HKS EVC on my Mirage for about 20 years and am not sure it is working right. If I were to try a Joe P MBC would I need any of the OEM parts [which I don't have] like that black salonoid? ie. Is the MBC and it's hoses the whole control system? Thanx

I have heard the A'pexi AVC-R is the best for controlling boost creep on a DSM, but have personally never used one because of the expense and that people say that are hard to set up. I would have thought I would need it because it can also help control wheelspin since it can set boost to lower levels in first (or whatever) then go to higher level in taller gears, but after I got my new turbo, urethane mounts - it wasn't an issue anymore. I have an Extreme Turbo XBC.

Greyforrestgst your hood openings caught my atention.
Just cut holes or something attached under the hood for air directig> Any diffrence with them? Thanks, mark

No... I leave the black solenoid in because sometimes I get a Check Engine Light when I take it out, but it does nothing when using a MBC. Some people have told me that they have taken out the solenoid with no Check Engine Light problems.
