is there a way to tell if its a 6 or 7 bolt from the outside of the engine? besides the VIN?

eric91gst said:you can also tell by the oil pans. On the flywheel side, a 6 bolt pan bumps out towards you. In a 7 bolt pan, the pan dips down a little bit.

lookin4dsm said:Looking at the passenger/flywheel side of the block, it is located at the upper left corner, just below the head. Very small letters and numbers and very hard to see. You may have to spray some type of grease cleaner on the area to see it.
