Is the Power Transistor/Ignition Module located in the Coil Pack?

I am buying a 92 Laser RS-T tomorrow morning that needs a power transistor/ignition module. Is this located in the coil pack? The laser will no start as it does not have spark and a shop told the owners that it needed a new ignition module. I am under the impression it is inside the coil pack.

No sir its not its right next to it with a connector that plugs into the coil pack, its a small black transistor cant miss it.

This thing? What are the chances the no spark issue is the coil pack and not the power transistor?

Thats it anything is possible check the ecu could be bad pull it out and look at the board if its toast theres the problem.

The shop also told them it needed a new "crankshaft position sensor" which would mean a CAS. So, supposedly it needs a new CAS and power transistor. Something doesn't sound right .

Cas crankshaft sensor thats it change that out and see what happens.

Alrighty. They have the parts already but I am taking my spare coil pack and CAS just in case.

Will do. I hope it is an easy fix and it is either the CAS or power transistor. The car is like an hour and 45 mins away. I don't have a spare ECU so hopefully the ECU is fine.

Hey I know im late, but the CAS is the CAMSHAFT ANGLE SENSOR. I do not believe the 4g motor has a crank sensor. But the CAS is on the left side of the motor, roundish object coming off the intake cam. This will cause the car not to start as well. Also check the MPI fuse (located on positive terminal) and theres another fuse behind the stereo that i forget the name of. Its gold though. GOOD LUCK!

That could definietly cause a no start....may want to replace that first....

Might be. But it wasn't my problem since that pic was one I found on google haha. I ended up not buying this Laser so I have no idea what the problem may have been. Decided not to buy it since it wasn't AWD and....I need AWD .
