is my turbo dead?

ok i have a big 16g and what happened is that the compressor & exhaust wheel does not move at all it is stuck. what i want to know is if the comp wheels are fine would a rebuild kit fix my problem? i dont want to buy a new turbo cause this one is not even a year old and i paid over $500.00 for it please help thank u

You might be able to get away with a rebuild but noone will know until it is disassembled. First, you need to figure out why it is frozen. Low oil pressure, not changing oil, not allowing it to cool off before you shut the car off(after boosting hard), debris lodged in the housing/wheels, etc,etc. If you dont find and fix the problem that caused this problem, you will probably end up having the same issues again.

thanks guys i think it might have gotten debri in it cause i gave it a mild port job and it was after that that it stopped moving if this is the case do u think a rebuild kit would help?

depends on what the turbine and compressor wheels look like. Take it off and remove the exhaust and copressor housings off and see what happened. If a bolt or something hit the turbine,and wedged it or broke it, It will probably be cheaper to get a new turbo. Nows a good time and excuse to get an e316g or a 50 trim.

i certainly think so. if this happened after porting, that means you have debris in there.
