Is my stock turbo off of a 1991 gsx bad?

HOW THIS ALL HAPPENED:-- i was driving it and it started to blow out white smoke out the exhaust and ran like crap... i popped the hood, oil was every were i thought i blew it up but idk. i was so mad, my stock boost gauge goes up to a little over 14psi when i get on it, and the aftermarket one jumps around until it hits 24psi.... i dont think its right, idk, it would start after that (after i got home) now the boost wont go over 7psi.



i actually dont know if it is stock or not, it says TDO5H and it looks like it??.... the little fan thing on the turbo on the intake side wiggles a little bit side to side, and a tiny bit in and out. my car kept blowing oil out of the intake so my mechanic said it could posibly be the turbo........ soo.. me the stupid 16 year old i am, i spent like 3hours by my self takeing the turbo off...so it got it off.. and took it apart its confuseing, i need to know if the shaft is suppose to wiggle or not??

its suppose to have a little side to side play since there's no more oil pressure in the bearing/bushing but no in and out play! looks like your turbo is shot and leaking oil in the exhaust intake

A little side to side play is fine.But you should have no in and out play.If you search threw the threads you'll find everything you need to know to diagnose if its your turbo or not.Its been answered many of times.I'm not just trying to be an A$$ cause i don't want to answer you Its just faster for you to read something that has always been answer then it is to wait for others to answer it again.Btw If you find out it is your turbo you can just rebuild it if neither wheel had contact and got damaged.if they did then your better off buying a new turbo cause its not worth sending out a TDO5H to be rebalanced and all.But if there fine its probably still in balance and you can just buy a rebuild kit and rebuild it yourself.There simple to rebuild.Check out vfaq.com And it will show you step by step how to do it.

ok, and another thing, with my turbo leaking oil, could that make it have really low oil pressure??

yes it might have an effect on the oil pressure, pressure will be lost from were it leaks

ok, im in a bind, do i want to go back with a stock turbo and manifold, or should i upgrade atleast the manifold to a tubeular style?
