Im tryin to get all the peices together to build a 6 bolt, and I was just looking at my crank. I must have overlooked it the night I got it, but thers flat spots on it? Is it supposed to look like this?

There is not coating on the flat spots. It looks like bare metal?

The flat spots are where they grind away metal off of the counterweights to balance it out.

Unless you are talking about something else..

Also get some assembly lube on the bearings before you bolt the caps down. Journals looked dry just thought I would ad that.

Looks like the journals can stand to be polished...

I agree. Unfortunately, I do not know the average price a shop would charge for that.

Actually you don't need to send it to a shop to get it machined unless their is taper or out of round or excessive wear. I think .001" is max for taper or out of round but don't quote me on that. For yours you probably just need to get a sanding belt for polishing cranks and hand polish the journals.

crank would definately need at least a polish, but if the nitrate finish on the journals is worn away you will have to either have it ground .010 under or have the crank welded and machined. From the looks of it, it looks good. Good luck :thumb:
