ok this has happened 3 times now.. first my stereo will turn on and off when i let off the gas and get back on, then when i shut off the car the seatbelts start tripping out, and after that, the car wont start again.. the only way to fix it, is to disconnect the positive battery terminal and connect it again.. it is not all corroded or anything.. my dad thinks my computer is going out..

thats happen to me. I was told in school and ive dones this mix baking soda in a cup with water. Make sure the batterys covers are pushed down. Then take a paint brush and coat the battery. Let set 4 a sec or 2, then rise off with water. Dry it off put it in, plug it up try in out just dont set battery on pavement.

What's the deal with electrical issues today? That's crazy. The ECU could definitely be a possibility. Good mechanic with experience diagnosing electrical issues to let you know whats up.

what does this do?

A battery that is overcharging can do this, too. Start small and go to an auto parts store (not WalMart) and have your battery and alternator checked out. See what your voltage output is.

I bet its your alternator. You giving the car some gas to turn the radio back on is a symptom of a bad alternator, bad battery or even sometimes both! But, from personal experience, when my alternator went on the freeway, first the dash lights would dim, the radio turned off, then the whole dash stopped working.

When I was battling to get the car home, the car would work really hard to stay on because nothing was charging the battery!

So, I'd take a look at the alternator fuse under the hood and get a voltmeter/multimeter and check the voltage of the battery with the car off and with the car on.

Like all batteries, it should be 12 volts a little less or little more. With the car on, the battery should be around 13.5 volts.

Doin the bakin soda is the easyest test to find out if theres a shorted cell in the battery ive done it time after time. Its a dallor for bakin soda, takes like 10 mins to do. If it keeps doin it it might be an the alternator. Theres no since messin with a shop or parts store if u don't have to. Let me know how it gose.

Make sure your battery terminals are not hitting the hood either. One day mine were a little loose (b/c I needed new ones) and the positive terminal was hitting the brace on the hood, and the hood is part of the chassis which is grounded, power going through groung is no good. I was cruisin music up high, about ten minutes into my drive I pulled away from a red light and all my lights and radio, gauges, etc, went crazy for a few seconds flickering on and off and then the car just died, wouldn't start, until I got a jump, luckily I didn't fry my ecu, It just shorted the battery, and burned a little hole in my hood brace.

yea yesterday i was pullin into my parkin spot and let my turbo cool, then tried turning off the car and everything started flickerin, lights, radio, seat belts buggin out, all i did was clean up my battery terminals, got all the caked junk off the terminals and the negative and positive adaptors and tightened them, i was good to go :thumb:
