Alright i have a HKS Boost gauge its 20-0-20 and it looks like its fine, only problem is i dont like the light in its too dim at night.

Anyways the other day i turned my mbc all the way down to test something, and when i did that at WOT it was reading 9 PSI exactly all the way to redline.

I thought it wasnt possible to boost less than 11 psi? i mean running a straight vac line from teed bov to the wastegate would make it open at 11 psi right? So how can i be only boosting 9?

I turned down my boost because before i was hitting nasty fuel cut or something like that at 4k rpms at full boost. My boost only read 15 psi so i cant understand why it would be messing up so much, but could it be possible that my gauge is wrong by a couple pounds?

I was seriously considering an upgrade anyways so i can have a pillar autometer gauge that i can actually see, also something that goes up to 30.

When vehicle is stock, the computer duty cycles the wastegate solenoid to achieve max boost without detonation, usually 9-12 psi. I can turn the boost down with mbc on my 1g to about 6psi. I had a boost guage that read -2 psi when car was not running, obviousy incorrect. You can easily check its accuracy with a vacuum/pressure pump that is known to be good. Or try a different guage.

It all depends on what kind of shape your wastegate actuator is in. The spring pressure inside can get weak over time allowing it to run a lower minimum pressure.

I just hooked up a boost gauge in my 1990 laser rs turbo, stock gauge read 13 to 14
new boost gauge read 8 to 9, so stock was way off, 9 was about what i was putting out stock...

alright i guess the gauge isnt off, its just really ugly and only goes up to 20 psi, i'll defanitely need to upgrade soon to a autometer c2 gauge or something that bright, cause i dont like squinting to see how much boost i'm runnin and all that.

Also has anyone installed 3 gauge pillar gauges in a 1g gsx like mine? i see them all the time, but i dunno i had a single gauge for my a pillar and it didnt fit right cause like my boost gauge is too big, and also what holds them in place? does it just go over the stock plastic part on the a pillar?
