Is Magnus SMIM my mistake?

Ok, I've got my mods listed in my profile, may have forgot that the walbro 255 has been rewired.
Getting ready to drop in the new Ross/Eagle combo on the motor build, and came across a Magnus street SMIM for cheap and added it to the build. I love the cleaner look it gives the install, but I've been reading that these SMIM's can cause both a reduced airflow to cylinder #4, as well as a huge loss of torque/midrange for cars with a 16g. My question is that, with my big 16g, clipped and ported, as well as Jackson Auto race head, 264/272 combo, am I putting on an intake that is geared towards a much higher airflow turbo? I know my goals are very high, but I am shooting for very low 11's and trying to tweek 10's without NOS. Looking for some advice on whether I should ditch this mani for a honed 2g, or if it will give me the top end I need for my goals even with a smaller turbo. Thanks

Oh yeah, this IS going to be tuned with ECMlink with wideband, and will be running 104 race fuel. Thought I should mention that, as this is NOT a dd.

They say the magnus suffers in low end power.I took my stock manifold and ported and polished it had great results but at the same time they cant hold a rediculas amount off boost either LOL.Building your own is probly the best.

What cannot take a lot of boost? Please explain when you say something like that. Building you own would have diminished results unless you have a flow bench (like Magnus) to see how the airflow is.

to LiQUiDx, I appreciate you looking out for bad responses. That being said, I can tell a legitimate answer vs. "build you own" LOL. I do appreciate it tho, seeing as I'm still a "newbie"
That being said, I was referring to such debates about the Magnus such as this

Hope I copied that link right. My point is, one of the DSM wisemen started really dogging on the magnus intake, and the last thing I want is another toasted motor. I'm looking for someone who has run a similar setup, with good or bad experience, or someone who can provide some data as to if I am making a big mistake.

Thanks for looking, it's much appreciated!

I haven't run this setup before, but I will tell you your engine is safe no matter what IM you pick. It may hurt your performance but will not hurt the motor. If you already have it I would throw it on. The street version is pretty small anyways and should be more geared towards smaller turbos.

Thanks for that. Not trying to sound paranoid, just want as much info as I can get before burning up a cylinder on a fresh motor. Still wouldn't mind hearing from some people who have a Magnus SMIM on their car with no problems, but at least it's a little peace of mind.

On my built 6bolt, i ran a evo 3 16g turbo with a Magnus SMIM for almost two years at 23psi without any issues. I now will be running a 57trim when it comes back from being rebuilt but i have no complaints with my Magnus intake manifold. I would prefer this over stock anyday, the boosted power increase overcomes all the "negative" differences this intake will do. I wouldn't worry about burning up your motor due to the intake and rather worry A LOT about tuning correctly.

Just going to throw this in there.... The stock manifold will hold more boost than the street SMIM's..... Eventually with these you will have cracks/breaks in the welds(which is probably not going to happen with your build running a 16g) but from what I have seen is that STREET SMIM's are just for looks and dont really perform any differently and are less reliable. Thats just my two cents based on what I have heard pro builders and tuners say!! Now DRAG manifolds are a completely different story they are built to PERFORM and look cool!!

Well it sounds like I'll be ok with it, other than giving up a little bit of mid-range, so I'll run it and see how it performs. Sounds like I won't be starving a cylinder of air, at least with my mods so far. Thanks.
