Is it siezed??

I just bought my son a 94 Eagle Talon from a guy on craigslist for $400. He said he hadnt started it in over a year. I took it back to my garage and started with the obvious. I took the starter off, had it tested, and its fine. I had the battery tested and its fully charged. Everything powers up but the engine will not turn over. I took the valve cover off and the oil was sludgy and there was some what appeared to be rust. I then drained the oil pan and it had about 2 gallons of water in in before the sludge started coming out. I wanted to see if the engine would turn manually so i put a big ole wrench on the crank and the crank nut or whatever thats called, only had 2 sides. It was broke. So where do i start? Do i need to find another way to turn the motor before anything else? If so How? IF not, what do I check? I have no manuals. I keep reading about a CAS and I just cannot find a picture online to locate this. Do I need to check this or am I getting ahead of myself? Please advise. Brand new to DSM.

Engine Bay Virtual Tour

Cas Location

Your cas will be directly below your throttle body on the head, passenger side of the car. Top left (top passenger side) of the head/valve cover. It is a large round sensor. It should be a bit different than the one in the virtual tour.

From the sound of things the motor is gonna need to come apart.. Aside from that, did you hear the starter actually engaging? and also, forget a wrench on the crank nut, a half inch ratchet/breaker bar works much better, should be a square hole in the center of it.

Does the starter try to turn the engine, i mean does it engauge the flywheel? I have heard that "marvel mystery oil" works. A buddy of mine picked up a hoduh and the motor was rusted together and he poured that stuff down the spark plug holes and the next day it turned over

Your CAS wont keep the engine from turning over. I would recommend pulling the valve cover and checking for bent valves first. Make sure eveything is in time, although if you can't turn the engine over then I'm not sure how to really tell you to do that. You could always try bump starting it if it's a manual.

The motor doesnt turn at all. The starter clicks once like it against something that will not move.

Marvel Mystery Oil might just be a cheap way to start. Im gonna try it, and also bump starting it. After these couple things Ill be back for more help. Thanks

With that much water that came out of your oil drain, you are going to want to start by taking it apart. Who knows where else water is sitting, and you will want to kno the extent of the rust and water damage before you try starting it. I wouldnt recommend trying to bump start it in case it is seized. Sounds like o good way to break something.

And definately check for bent valves which may be why it doesn't turn and is only $400 - (these are interference engines so a broken timing belt bends valves). If it's been sitting with water in it for a year, a tear down is in order anyway.
