is it safe to run 2g maf in 1g without afc or injectors?

I was saying it is useless, as in their is no gian in haveing a 3inch or 3.5inch, of 5inch, whatever as a BLOW THROUGH because ur intercooler pipeing is not even near that size. I was saying no gain would be realized over a 2.5in maf on 2.25 or 2.5 inch intercooler pipe. See what Im sayin now? Yes the GM maf is a good kit, and very versitile i agree. Understand my point about sizeing now, Im sure you will agree. I said you backed me up because you said no gain would be realized, even a SLIGHT drop in flow from the small/big/small effect. See what im sayin?

As for 2g and bigger fuel pump boy... Are u serious? Stick to audio. People put bigger pumps on their car becasue when you up the boost and run more power, the stock pump cant keep up with the demand of the motor. Make sense?

Actuly you know on 2.5" UICP you might see a small (nothing that would matter but technicly) larger flow of air with less turbulance because it would flow smoother....

Although with good necks it shouldn't matter.

But im going with a 3" maf when I do this to my 2nd DSM (when i get the darn thing *cry* I want her now!)

dont change anything that effects the flow of fuel unless you know what is happening(logging-O2 voltage, Airflow Hz, pulse width, ect.), know the consequenced(good or bad), and have a way to control them......................unless you dont care about your engine.

exactly

Unless of corse the pump is so large it is overruning the stock regulator in which case yes the pressure on the whole fuel curve will incress but thats FAR FAR from controled. And you will have idel problems like that.

Haha, you would need something like an aeromotive that would still flow like 250 lph at 60-70 psi :D as with any of the 'common' dsm pumps, you will just overrun on the bottom of the curve. You would spend a fortune on the pump and still have no control :thumb:

ok I can roll with that. If you flow tested though the honeycomb on the front will be a much larger loss than the expansion/contraction.

We can drop this though as I don't think many people want to get into minor losses and approximate Reynold's Numbers to calc our loss through the various meters.

Back from the dead...

I am goign to run a 3inch inline-blowthrough- with 3 inch IC plumbung so it si all nice and smooth. I will get Dyno numbers with and without honeycombs, but what was this disscusion about int he firast place? I do not feel like reading it again!

Well, since you resurrected this thread, just for the record the 2G MAS flows 29% more air for the same Karman Hz, not 20%. For years, people said the 550's and a 2G MAS was an even-up proposition, but it never worked in my car, and I found out why once I hacked the chips. With the 2G MAS removing 29% airflow, and the 550's only adding 20%, you are still 9% too lean, and you are WAY off on the timing maps, so you have to add fuel to keep the knock down. Hey, it works great on race fuel: it leans your A/F out, AND gives you more timing. But, it sucks for pump gas, no matter what people say. I raised my fuel pressure to 49-50 psi, and it still was too lean. The only right way to do it, besides a chip, is to add 29% on an AFC.

i ran a 2g mas with stock injectors and no afc, just a rewired 255 and NON turbo fuel pressure regulator to bump up the fuel pressure ran perfect ran 12.4 on a 14b like that
