I have a 3" PVC pipe for a intake pipe and it works great. I was thinking of adding another fuel inyector in the intake pipe but I'm not sure if it's safe, since the PVC pipe is made of plastic. It's made of thick plastic and the fuel may not come in touch with it, but could the gasoline still corrode the pipe and make a hole?

I can't comment on the safety of this application in general but PVC is fairly resistant to gasoline.

Why would you put an injector in the intake? thats the dumbest thing i've ever heard

I'm guessing casper_talon believes that by adding more gas to the intake he will create a rich mixture giving more power. By doing this he will create a very slugish car and will create less power. Instead of adding more fuel he should be wanting to add more air. A leaner mixture will increase power... and possibly put unwanted holes through out the motor.

I love how everyone just instantly flames the guy instead of saying your an idiot why dont we just say no it wont do anything it will hurt your performance and you would gain nothing from it.:thumb:

I've seen some supercharger kits for my Z-28 that include extra injectors which you add to your intake pipe which are controlled by a fuel controller...maybe he is trying to add another injector with a larger turbo rather then changing his original injectors. This may make things more complicated and difficult to make adjustments for, of course I'm no pro just taking a wild guess.

If your looking for better performance check out the tech/diy section. It has step by step mods that are proven to work. I would highly recommend it. Have you heard of someone doing his before? Sounds very ........different. To be sure. Can you tell us more? With a DSM, first mods are getting air in and out better, not more fuel.

ive heard of it before, but not on a dsm. you get rid of the fuel cut and hook a vacuum relay to a injector to click on right before fuel cut. it works, but wouldnt do it if you have lots of money in a engine or dont know how to rebuild one.

It does work with PVC. Before I was a DSM guy I was a Honda guy and had a similar setup. I had the usuall four (4) injectors on the intake mani and an additional one (1) in the intake pipe. I only did this because it is a super cheap way to adjust for turbo (keep in mind that it isn't safe though). Honda vehicles are different though so I wouldn't recommend it. In addition, DSMs have so much to offer as far as cheap fuel regulaton goes. Whatever your reason for needing more fuel (not my concern), I would suggest you go with and Apexi SAFC. Even the first gen fuel controller should suit you well.

I have seen turbocharged carburetor setups where air passes through the carb first and fuel goes through the inlet of the tubo and throughout the whole system. I don't think it is very safe, but I witnessed a 70's AMC run 8's(1/4) with a setup like that.

If you are referring to putting extra injectors in the upper IC pipe that should work fine and be fairly safe. Shep runs 2 additional injectors in his UICP right past the BOVs.

Yeah I have seen alot of supercharger kits for trucks that have this. The OP has a n/t so there would not be much reason for one in this case.

I love how people who have no clue sit and flame away....

Lots of people do the extra injector. Mainly when they add a turbo to a non-turboed car. They usually lean out at higher rpm so they add another injector that kicks on at a certain time to help out.

Ive seen lots of people do it. Just do it right and its fine.

As for the pvc and gasoline.....Just get an extra piece, and let it soak in a bucket of gas for a few weeks...If its eaten away, dont do it, if not...then go for it.

I don't think using PVC in the engine bay is a good idea. Especially if it has fuel going through it.
I'm an electrician and a trick we use to bend PVC conduit is to stick it up a trucks exhaust pipe. You don't have to get it that hot for it to bend. Your engine bay might not get that hot since your NA, but I wouldn't risk it.

Edit: PVC glue contains a solvent (Toluene I think) that actually melts the PVC, so be careful using solvents (like gasoline) with it. Also never breath in PVC fumes, they are toxic.

No reason to add another injector since your stock injectors aren't even close to doing 100% IDC.

Noob translation.... your stock injectors are not even maxed out yet so no need to add that injector. More fuel doesn't = more power. More oxygen = needs more fuel = more power.

Let me put it this way... fire needs oxygen and if you add more fuel into a container with only limited amount of oxygen. The fuel with burn what amount of oxygen is in the container and what do you have left... unburned fuel and that = rich

If someone care to go into super detail go ahead.

continuing....

so since you'll run out of air before fuel while still being na, focus on increasing air flow istead. you won't need the exra fuel until you have a serious amount of air going into your motor.

on a side note to everyone else: who is familiar with the venom-400? i got one several years ago for my talon before i knew very much about what i was doing. now i'm much more knowledgeable and wonder if it really helps or hurts my performance. supposedly it adds more fuel than the car would normally, but it boasts a 25% power increase. i know thats a bs claim, but does it help even a little bit? i feel (when comparing performance with the venom turned on and off) that the car is in fact more responsive and accelerates harder with it on. perhaps this is because it is a legit ecu piggyback with its own fuel map for my specific car... and actually changes the fuel/ar ratio to a more suitable mixture without going to the point of just flooding it and making the car run rich.

anyway, can anyone explain to me if they think the venom-400 is helpful or not, an why if they know more about it that i do?

That's why boosting is actually called forced induction.
Having your intake with a huge cone facing the front of your car and moving fast will actually force more air into your engine but watch out for those bugs... LOL...

haha, are you referring to my setup or just the general idea of seeing a car with it's intake sticking straight out of the front bumper? LOL at first i thought you were mocking me but nevermind. (i have a large cone filter on my NA, but my fiberglass ar scoop i made is just to get more fresh air into the engine bay for my short ram, not to simulate forced induction haha)

edit - i don't think i've got pics on here showing what i'm talking about but my cardomain site describes and shows it if you feel so inclined to see what the hell i'm talking about. it's just a scoop taking air from the two left-most vents in the front bumper and shooing up into the engine bay, releasng it literally less than an inch away from my air filter.
