whats up fellow dsmers. got a question about converting a 91 gs 4g63 non turbo to an awd turbo. i know it would be cheaper to just buy an awd but im hard headed and i refuse to pay almost 300 a moth to my insurance company for an wad turbo. so i pretty much just want to know if the 1g awd suspension, transmission, transfer case, driveshaft etc. will bold into a 1g 4g63 non turbo. i have the motivation and the patience. i just dont know if this is something that can be done. i have converted the car to turbo now, using the stock internals of the n/t motor and the car runs gretty good. faster than a stock factory turbo car. so if there is anyone out there that could help out with some info i would greatly appreciate it.

Anything is possible if youve got the payroll to do it. You would need a the tranny, clutch, flywheel, and rear end from an AWD dsm. There may also have to be some body modifications in the rear. Your crossmembers in the front and rear may also have to be moved/modified.

Not an AWD one :D

To answer your question, yes it's possible. But in no way is it worth it, unless you can get parts for next to nothing. :thumb:

a awd turbo 1g costs like 2-3k. Why would you want to waste all that time and money converting a n/t to a awd t?

ok its hard enough to convert a N/T to turbo but you want to convert a N/T to Turbo and AWD?

ok if you have to ask how to do this you are already in over your head. basically you will need to find a turbo engine with ecu and harness and everything, and a totaled awd drivetrain, or both in the same car and swap it.

or you can find a 1g awd talon for around the same price you would spend on trying to take a n/t and make it turbo awd.

So i have a totaled 1994 talon tsi awd and i got a 1993 eclipse gs non turbo so im going to swap my fully built motor out of the talon into the eclipse...... well since i have the totaled awd talon is it really that hard to just swap rear ends to make the gs awd

Way to bring one back from the dead!!!!!

Anyways, you could probably just find a AWD roller and swap everything over. Be much easier and cheaper.

The 1g FWDs have no drive shaft tunnel, plus the rear is different, gas tank, suspension, exhaust, etc. It would be extremely involved. Possible? Yes. Recommended? No.

Making it a turbo FWD on the other hand will be a piece of cake, especially since you already have a donor car.

ok im in need of a car and since my daily driver tsi is totaled i had to buy the only chassis there was in my area so i was seeing if i could combine the two togather for an awd cause isnt the exhaust on the fwd run where the tunnel is
