Is it ok to replace just one axle?

Hey. My front passenger CV boot has a hole in it, and I'm hearing a click when turning, so I am just gonna replace the axle. I looked around a bit, and I wasn't sure if it was ok to just replace one axle, or do both. I figure it is ok, but I just wanted some confirmation before doing it since I don't know too much about it. Thanks guys.

There aren't any known ill effects from just replacing one axle that I have heard of.

It is okay to replace just one CV axle. I've done it a few times, but normally if one is about to die, the other one is too, so if you have the money get both of them replaced.

not always true... you could have boot failure by scraping it on something...
i replaced my left front about 12,000 miles ago since the boot ripped and got grease everywhere and my right front is in perfect condition still. so i would say just replace them as needed, you don't need to do it in pairs.
