Do any of you have any taste? Any dash piece that is painted looks like crap. This thread is loaded with rice except for the black/grey mixes.

Exactly what I was talking about in my first post, on the very top of page 3.

Funny...

So is it "rice" when a BMW or a Corvette come with colored interiors from the factory?

Or is it only rice when color gets used in an "Asian" car (when ours were actually made in the US)?

Color in an interior can look really good when done right or really bad when done wrong, just like on the outside of a car. I think we've got good examples of both here.

My home boy has the factory red/black/silver interior in his 06 GTO. Pimp as hell.

Hey boostin95rst, how did you paint the window crank black? Mine flaked really bad cause I couldn't get in between all the ridges and stuff.

Well what I meant was is that you are supposed to clean the parts and scrub them so that the paint can stick to the piece. How do you scrub in between all those crevices on the wheel? That and the wheel rubs on the crank and stuff and people bumping into it cause it to flake.

All i did was use wax and grease remover (sold at any out parts store, Made for painting cars) Wipe then down good and sprayed them with Krylon flat black plastic paint, And i couldnt flake it off if a tried. Probably the reason your is flaking is years of build up amorrall and stuff, Thats why i use the wax stripper because it removes all the gunk and wont hurt the plastic like allot of stuff will.:thumb:

This is exactly what i use Klean-Strip Prep-All Wax & Grease Remover - GSW362 I use this stuff on every thing i paint, metal, plastic, ect.

CARGUY is right, just alot of thin coats and clean. hey ED, dont buy those seat brackets, you are better off making your own. i bought those off ebay and they suck. they fit in the car perfect but they dont fit the seats at all. they are made to fit top end seats only. i ended up chopping them up and welding them together to fit, waste of 70 shipped. also ED, what kind of black paint did you use to paint the back seats? hahaha i did the same thing. you know i thought it would make it hard and crusty but it didnt. came out nice.

Really? I planed on buying them myself, I knew they wouldn't fit perfect but i figured it would give a flat surface to work with, I just don't trust my self to make custom brackets because i know i will screw them up and the seat wont be flat/square :p

well i did mine today, the problem was after they didnt fit, i cut and welded on them after alll the measurements and the heat will flex the steel and they dont fit good. i guess its not a bad idea to buy so you have a template, but i recoment you not to cut them up at all, just weld in 2 extra cross plates that line up with your bolts on your seat. i wish i would have done that. also i am 6'1 so i had to cut them to make it where the seat basicaly sits on the floor. it turned into a big mess but i got it done.

I was going to buy them but ebay said i violated there rules or some bs.
I painted the seats with a flat black viynl & fabric spray:p

I got the Weapon R seat brackets for my Megan Racing seats and they worked out fantastic! The fitment was a little tight, but with a bit of finagling they bolted right in. They sit nice and low to the floor to give you as much a stock seat heigth as you can get. Plus they're WAY cheaper then the Wedge brackets.

what would be a good paint remover on plastics? any idea's? I clear coated my side kick panels.. Looked awesome tell it got super hot in my car. Still shiny but yeah the seats fabric stuck to the kick panel. I wanna remove it and re-shoot it with out clear any idea's?

eh have fun LOL I couldnt find anything that wouldn't melt the plastic, The paint clean up stuff the sell at lowes works sometimes. Other than that you pretty much just have to sand/scrape it off.

yes alot of time and sandpaper. and the reason it got sticky is because you laid it on to this and it dont cure that way, thats why we say go with thin coats
