Intercoolers, ......Help?

What would be the easyiest FMIC kit to install for my 1992 GST eclipse? like least modification, fairly easy install. And maybe best price, but i have found out that ease+quality=expensive, but let me know what kinda luck you guys have had with what kits. Thanks.

There are some pretty decent intercoolers on ebay. Check out seller "CXRacing" or "justintercoolers". I put together my FMIC and piping with their parts and have absolutely no complaints. I did my entire FMIC and piping for right around $185.

He would need your car in order to build you a kit. He need something to mok it up on, his 2G isnt going to work for that. Just save up $400 and buy a complete kit.

no not like that, just gather me up a list of what i need to order from ebay. With that punishment racing kit it looks like i gotta get rid of the actual bumper, and i dont really want to have to replace the a/c fans if i dont have to.....

No you just have to trim the crash bumper. As for the A/C fan your going to find with most FMIC that your going to have to get rid of it or go to a slim line fan.

im running the crx racing 1g fmic kit of ebay took some modifying to get it routed but works and looks great for 450$

Anyone try the intercooler with the inlet and outlet on the same side......i dont want to eliminate my a/c fan or have to replace with a smaller one if i can find a way around it.....Sound like an ok idea?

They have the short route fmic from cxracing on ebay now. For around 200 shipped i believe, I have the piping so thats my kit. But the punishment kit is very nice.

I'm running this intercooler right now. The CXRacing one off ebay actually. It takes a good bit of work with a universal kit to get it to fit right, at least on my 2g.

how much harder is it to route with universal piping verses say a kit with all prefit pipes from punishment?

well probably a lil easier but one thing iv learned for modifying cars is a perfect fit is extremely rare

If you want and install that is as simple as a tightening a few bolts, you aren't going to find it. It will take a little bit of elbow grease to get any kit to fit just right.

I bought the same side intercooler because I wanted something a bit different.

If you want this install to go as easy as possible, get a kit from a reputable company that is known to fit. If you don't mind the work to get a universal kit to fit, you can end up with a project car that is truly unique, while saving a few bucks.

Yes i agree get a bit dirty get a kit, and get to work. There is lots to say when you can get things to make them work for you. I had a fmic but it was too small from a friend so i mocked it up just
to see how it would look. Im really excited because i got piping for free and the flanges for my bov from a buddy too. It will be custom and will look really good when its all together.

The punishment racing kit is good for 400WHP.

I have the cx racing core and I bought the "mix & match" piping kit. He used to have an option in his ebay store to make your own piping kit. (it was something like pick 6 pipes & couplers and 12 t bolt clamps. I traded 2 of the pipes to get 2-2.5" 90* silicone couplers for the inlet/outlet of the FMIC, got a 2-2.5" reducer for the j-pipe, and I even had a few extra couplers & t-bolts left over)

I have the 31x11x3" core and it fit fine with just trimming the crash bar top and bottom edge completely off. You also have to widen the "holes" in the front end where the piping goes thru, but it wasn't bad at all...just trimmed the sheet metal edge and smacked the hole open a bit with a hammer. I got the core and piping for about $300, and I love it. I'm running 26 psi on an 18g flowing about 42-44lb/min with zero complaints.

The pic is from my 90 Laser, but it swapped to my GSX and fit the same.

+1 on the PR FMIC. Many people have posted positive reviews abouth this kit. While your at get one of the PR radiator kits. Your going to want to upgrade anyway, and it comes with 2 slim fans and all the mounting hardware. I have this kit on my 2g.
