INtake possible leak? Screw something up

I just installed a better intake filter on my car and it may not have completely sealed around the edges. So if it was sucking in extra air maybe around where the filter connects, could that do anything?
 
No it wouldn't of done anything. Unless the gap was huge, and you somehow sucked something bad into the intake, but you probably would of noticed that by now. Is it properly sealed now, or are you having problems sealing it?
 
IM not sure, im jsut trying to figure out why my car is running slower now after failing to put a 3" dp on my car. So i just cut my exhaust off after the cat. It might just be the noise is different and messing with me but i dont think thats it.
 
Okay, you should of stated the downpipe in the beginning. As for the air filter, just make sure the coupler is screwed down tight, I doubt that's your problem. As for the exhaust, did you cut off the rest of the exhaust after the cat, getting rid of your 02 sensor in the process? Are you throwing a cel? You are probably running pig rich which would lead to you feeling slower.
 
I actually cut off the second 02 sensor. I was told that it only reads if the cat is working right and it doesnt do anything. Im not throwing any cels either. The check engine light would come on right. Another thing is my bov no matter how much i tighten it down is leaking air out the recirc tube, even at idle.
 
Yeah you should definitely be throwing a cel since the 02 is not there unless you did the aluminum foil method. Have you tried resetting the ecu? Going from the stock exhaust which is very restrictive to an exhaust that has no piping at all after the cat gets rid of a lot of backpressure, and your car might not be used to it yet. When you say you are leaking air out of the recirc tube where do you mean exactly? Where the bov connects to the recirc tube, or where the recirc tube connects to the intake?
 
Regardless of other issues you're having, your BOV is toast.

Running with a BOV that leaks worse than a stock one will never be optimal. If it leaks as bad as you say I would look into the warranty. If that fails open it up yourself and see if there is anything blatantly wrong with it. It is possible that the diaphram has torn and needs to be replaced. It's also possible that the metal piston itself isn't sealing due to imperfections or even a dent from a screw driver (don't ask how I know).
 
OK gusy thank you, ill try resetting the ecu and my bov is toast. IM sure of it casue it shouldnt constantly be leaking from there, i cant even do boost leak tests up to 1 psi. But why can i build full boost?
