Hey everybody I am new to dsms and I was just wondering if there is anywhere I can buy a new intake manifold for my 94 eagle talon es. The baffle on the inside is rattling and I would like to have a new one but can’t seem to find one any help would be appreciated.

From what I read there is a baffle that is like glued to the inside of the intake manifold an it broke loose. The problem I’m having is at around 2000 to 2500 rpm’s and around 50 to 55 miles an hour there is a rattling noise. After them rpm’s it’s no longer there. And it sounds like it’s coming from the intake manifold.

there is no baffle in the intake manifold. The intake manifold is the big metal piece attached to the engine on the firewall side. the intake snorkel leading up to the throttle body may have something inside the mass air sensor. There is a honeycomb air straightener inside it. Take off the pipe and air filter and look.

I would make sure the timing belt has been changed.
At 47k original miles it's possible somebody thought it didn't need it. I had the same problem on an older but low mileage car. You symptoms sound like a broken balance shaft belt.

When I purchased the car the guy showed me all the receipts where he purchased a new timing belt and all the stuff that goes with it. And I had it looked at and they confirmed he did.

I recently went thru the pain of finding a new alternator for it. Had to buy a junk one and took the housing off of it and put it on a new one so it would fit. And I had to replace the EGR valve sensor.

Hi- Welcome to the forum. You can create a user profile and add your vehicle specifics to the profile, and that will make it a lot easier to know exactly what you are driving. Pics of the engine bay are also super helpful.

Nope- no baffle inside the intake manifold. It's a big hollow chunk of aluminum. It sounds like something has loosened around the intake manifold, and it is resonating at a frequency range with those RPM's. Could be many things- Could be a bad balance shaft or belt issue, but that would be deeper inside the block and be more of a knocking sound. There is a formed plate-metal bracket that bolts to the back side of the block (between the block and the firewall) that extends up and bolts to the back of the intake manifold- Perhaps something is loose there, but I would think uncommon. There is also a cast bracket between the block and the intake manifold where the throttle body attaches. There are also various sheet metal covers around the back side of the timing belt enclosure that could perhaps rattle if left loose.

You will need to "nut and bolt" the engine- test every fastener in that area for looseness. Perhaps posting a several second long video with audio shot in the engine bay as you rev the throttle body would help.

All new DSM owners benefit from reading the 1G Technical Manual and getting a copy of the Factory Service Manuals for their year car. The aftermarket manuals are not a substitute but a supplement.

The various exhaust heat shields can also rattle and it can be difficult to localize the sound.

Well I think I figured out what the rattle sound is. The bracket that holds the intake manifold only has one bolt in it. The only bolt is the one on the bottom that bolts to the engine block the two that bolt into the intake are not in it. Any idea what size they are?

Are you talking about the #19 bracket?
