Okay we were doing a head sawp and we put everything together once double and tripled check it we turn it on it runs about 10 sec. and shuts off we inspect everything to find out the intake cam is sizzed we take the head off check if the valves are bent but they are not now we are putting it back again and i need some help why does the cam sizzed up like that? Oh yeah and now that we up the head back on it spins freely again

In addition to what Dan mentioned, did you use assembly lube on the cam journals so that it wouldn't bind?

Were the cam caps intalled in the right locations?? Intake and exhaust caps cannot be interchanged or from a diffrent head.

Most cam companies tell you to keep a fast idle when you first start up with fresh cams. Like 2000rpm for 15 minutes. My guess is this helps keep the oil pressure up and the cams from eating into the journals in the head.

On the other hand, if your cams seized in the journals, I would think the head is ####ed.

You should know at this point what caused the seizing, or whether it was seized at all. You didn't give any details on what actually happened.

yeah if your cam did indead seize up it was from oil starvation or worse yet the wrong cam caps. It really doesn't take any time at all to destroy the cam journals. And once they are ruined it's more cost effective to get another head then to get the screwed up one fixed.

Take both the cams off to inpect the cams and the head journals. Put the cams caps on the head and torque them down without the cams installed and just use your finger and feel if their is any lip on the mating surfaces to the caps. If you can feel one it's the wrong cap. If all looks fine and you want to just be safe put assembly lube on the cams and take the rockers out and install the cams and torque down the caps. The cams should turn fairly effortlessly. IF you can't turn them by hand their is definilty a problem that needs to be addressed and fixed. IF all seems well and you are confident that everything is correct reinsall the rocker arms and give it a go. Or take the head to a shop and have them inspect it.
