Ok for starters I know now-a-days 264/264 for decent midrage, 272/272 for up top performance...and then 264/272 for the best of both worlds while giving in to each a little...also my tranny can't exactly handle 8k+ shifting....:barf:

I'm sure everone has noticed that COMP cams sell in pairs...either the 101-100 combo 101-200 combo etc..etc...

Now while on the phone with COMP they said they took an HKS cam and pretty much revised it and made it better for cheaper...

Now as of right now I have the ability to buy a 100I/200E cam from COMP for the price of 459.00
Where as an HKS couple like that would run 600++

My main question is would there be a more performance oriented more by going with the 100/200 combo than straight 100's or 200's

Be advised this car will be my DD with occasion Track duties....I do drive it pretty rough, and would like the power to be there whether it be on the drag strip or the road coarse or just to toy with the local honda boys with a nice but mild lumpy idle....:rocks:

Any help would be appreciated....Some Mods in Profile can't put them all....also will be running stock spring retainers etc..cept for revised lifters....

I agree, straight FP2's would be about perfect for you, and if you get them from FP they are $430.
 
Yea dont get crazy comp knows what there doing if the cams you wanted produced more HP they would have offered them that way. Both 200s I/E are not the same cams specs the intake is diffrent than the exhaust.
 
so whats the final thought on this fp2's or comp 200's??? i know it's my decision but would like some guidance in the choosing...

They are different, the FP2 is the same as a 101200, the FP2X is similar but has accelerated ramp rates and more lift. You'll need dual valve springs if you get the FP2x's.

To the original poster, make sure that if you go FP2Xs, you get their dual valve springs. If you were to buy SI duals, or anything less, you would end up exceeding the max lift rating from them with the 2xs.

I have 101200s, they are just fine for the street. No need to do the 100/200 combo. Even if you were to run 200s in high altitude, your street drivability would not deminish here.
Also, the 101100s and 101200s are not "basically" HKS 264 and 272s. They are somewhat similar with the performance gains you get, however, advertised duration, lift, etc are very different. Comp Cams 100 and 200 models are more conservative with advertised duration, but still net you great performance. On their 200s, they claim 35 horse out of the box. (This of course depends on your existing mods)

I have a FP1/FP2 combo. Up at 5800ft elevation, the idle is just like stock; with it set at 900, it is smooth as ever. The Evo III pulls hard to redline with the help of these cams.

I live at 5200ft and 7900ft. Even at 7900 with 1000cc's in, it still idles well.
