I have had other DSM's in the past and worked on quite a few of them, i was out of the game for a while and just purchased my new 1gb this weekend. The first order of business is to straighten out whatever the last owner did/didn't do. One of those things is the intake. It appears to me to be a Injen 2g pipe with Recirculated bov and vacuum nipples on it. The 2g MAS is bolted on as well.

The problem is he didn't have a air filter for the car!:ohdamn:

attached are pics i took of its current state.

What I need is your help confirming that intake pipe style, and what i can do to fit a air filter on the car.

I also noticed that it doesn't appear to have the adapter for a filter on it.

I don't need any smart comments about using the search function. I looked for a great while last night and couldn't find the answer to my specific question. Especially for a 1g.

Thanks ahead of time for all your help.:)

try find a real sgort stubby filter or look for the hks mushroom filter only think i can suggest with that amount of room

Yes that is an Injen style intake pipe. First off, is the car set up properly to run the 2g maf? If it is I'd just find a stock 2g intake since you can kind of squish it to make it shorter and have more room for better filter options. Or if it isn't set up correctly to run the 2g maf go back to stock intake and k&n filter, maybe hack the air can if you like. Just my .02 cents.

Thanks for the Help guys.:thumb: I know that the 2G MAS installed by itself will cause the car to run lean. I took a flashlight and a closer look at the injectors. I can see the RC Symbol on them. I will have to take one out and see what size they are. The car runs very smooth except above 4500 RPM it will studder and not go higher. It also has a creeping Idle that starts at 1000 RPM when cold and increases to 2600 RPM when the motor is completely warmed up.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this intake on a 1G 2GMAS and stock side mount, and could tell me which filter or size they used.

Your best bet will probably be to trim that intake pipe on the ends to give you enough room to fit a filter in there. Do yourself a favor and stop running the engine without a filter. That is very bad on it.
