For anyone who thinks Insurance companies are the scam artists, check this out: www.stellaawards.com

These are people that sue Home/Business owners for reasons including being bit in the butt by a chained dog in the neighbors yard, which he is standing in while shooting the dog with a pellet gun. Guess who picks up the tab?

Got a question for the masses, here's the situation. When I return home from Iraq, I plan on getting a 1st Gen (AWD of course) maybe a 2G if I cant find a 1G I like. However, my driving record isn't exactly "perfect" (4 tix + 1 total loss= 2 * 6month suspensions) So I'm worried if I'll be able to get insurance or not. Anyone have any idea? Or have some experience like this? Or know of an insurance company that could help me out. I'm 22 and haven't had a ticket in aprox 18months (license suspended for 12 of those...) Or am I going to be stuck driving some hooptie because it's all I'll be able to get insurance for?

If nothing else, you will get "assigned risk" insurance, where you're thrown into the "he's gonna cost us" pool. Check with a broker instead of an agent, someone who sells from many different companies. It's going to cost.

its different for all insurance companys. For some crazy ass reason mine went down when i went from a 1995 rs to a 1995 gst. I think it went down like 7 bucks a month.

All insurance companies are nuts man, if you ask me...

I have two cars right now, a 89 jetta 1.8 who came with some factory features, and the 90 Eclipse Turbo what they call "fully loaded", It seems really noticeable that the dsm has more value, but I pay the same amount for each car... so I really don't know whats the deal...

In your case, you probably won't notice any difference in price increments... but who knows.

Yah I changed to from a 90 240sx to a 90 laser turbo, and it stayed exactly the same. I think it depends more on how much it costs to fix with our cars. I mean you could get a 97 or so mustang GT and it would probably go up, but we all know our cars are much better and with a couple hundred bucks will be much faster, but insurance looks at it like "mustang, performance car, higher insurance" heh ah well Im not complaining.

1178$ per 6 months for a 97' Talon TSI AWD, I'll be 16, with my parents and 18yr old bro on it too, 1000$ deductible, clean record, good student, drivers ed. Hope that helps!

I just got a refund from my insurance company, the fabled Rocky Mountian Fire and Casualty Company. Forty bucks back on the DSMs, and another forty from when I had the '94 on with my '84 200SX Turbo... which was four years ago.

I don't even ask.

i'm 20 with a 98 TSI AWD, i have had over 8 tickets, gone through departmental hearings, suspensions, and fines. But my car is under my moms name who is 56 with a perfect record. I pay $650 a year for FULL coverage....Momma's Boy, right here

$220 per month for my 95 TSi AWD, and this is after my dad told them that the car had import performance parts <DOH!>

Going from a ESi to a TSi is probably gonna up your insurance a little bit. Geico Meter shows:

95 Eagle Talon TSi AWD - 5 out of 5
95 Eagle Talon ESi - 3 out of 5

As you can see your insurance will go up. It also notes that the TSi may generate a performance surcharge.

These words are rarely ever heard in the same sentence. What cars out there are high in performance but won't tax your wallet every month to keep them insured. I know that the Nissan Maxima is decently low, but I was wondering if there were any other cars out there that might fall into this oximoron of a catigory. -Buckwild

Its not a car, but from what ive heard the ford lightning is mark as a basic f-150 by insurance departments, since there is technically no "sports truck" category.
