edmonton,
I was origionally going to get a 190 but is it fair to say that with my current mods a 255 would be a better choice in the long run. (upgrading to 660cc injectors soon)

I never had install a pump before so what can I expect, is it fair easy?.

Its on a 90 FWD. thx

On my car, you can access all the necessary bits from above, as I learned after dropping the tank. There is a hard plastic plate on the floor of the trunk, you can pull the pump through it.

your an AWD, FWD's pumps are on the backside of the tank under the car, the screws retaning my stock pump are heavily corroded and will be a pain to get off, AWD's have a much better place for it.

thx alot for the links

Since posting this I have finished everything, complete -6an fuel system, let me put it this way, dealing with the gastank/pump/lines etc anything todo with fuel I a pain in the ass.

1. you can remove the pump without lowering your gas tank, it was really tricky to remove all the screws and really cramped but i managed, later i removed my tank anyways when installing new fuel lines, so if you chose you remove or lower you tank just undow the 2 brackets closest the to the rear of your car and your tank will drop enough to get more room to work with.

2. make sure all your you dran the gas, doso by removing the drain plug by your left rear tire. you also have to remove the screw that holds the pump to the botttom of the tank, it is in the center of the tank, (fuel will drain through here also, now you can twist and turn till the pump comes up and out.

3. the higher you can jack up your car the better

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought fuel pump installs for 1G's were the same for 2G's. On my 2G FWD, I popped the backseat out and there was a square plate with 4 screws and underneath that was a round place with like 6 or 8 screws. The pump slides right out afterwards. That sounds alot easier than dropping the tank. Mine took me a little over 45 min to install. :dsm:

correction you are wrong hehe, on 1g FWD's you acces the pump from underneither the car, it is in abitch of a spot.

However 1g AWD's are from the inside like 2gs

Well, I guess I learn something new everyday. :thumb: Too bad the install wasnt as easy and quick as it was for 2G's......

Not to steal this thread but would it be a benifit to run a walbro 255 with a stock fuel system ona 2g? This is something that I have been debating for a while and Im not too sure if it would actually help or not.

With an upgraded pump, you can flow more fuel through the stock (or bigger) injectors. The pump is the biggest limit on the fuel system.

You would also need an AFPR to control base fuel pressure with a 255

Thanks for posting this, the stupid geocities site on vfaq.com for 1g FWDs is down. I'm also going to be doing a walbro install soon so this really helps clear up alot of confusion
