Well I got a 4-2-1 header. The problem is, the bolts on the outer portion of the 4g63 head, are bigger then the inner ones, and the header will not fit with those in there... I heard that those also have a oil gallery by or behind them...??

So I'm kinda of worried about just taking them out....

Anyone else run into this on a N/A 4g63?

This is a similar problem with the 2g eclipses, I think it has to do with a 7 bolt head. I think this is the reason for it but I could be wrong, can someone verify?

The outer studs of the exhaust manifold are larger than the inner ones.

I would just drill and make the stud hole a bit larger. Make sure if you are using SS hardware to get washers with the nuts.

are the studs larger like in this picture?
That's the exhaust manifold stud kit for the 2gDSM/EVO

I don't believe there's oil behind the outermost studs. If you have two larger studs on the ends, there's a pretty good chance the engine you're working on is a 7-bolt. Just open up the holes on the manifold flange a little and you'll be good to go.

Yea they are larger studs on the outer part....

I guess I'll just have to drill out the Header holes a bit wider :(... Should look good still.

Thanks guys. and yea it is a 7 bolt.

Yeah; you should be able to just enlargen the exhaust manifold flange a bit for clearance. As long as you are using nuts that have a big enough bearing capacity to make contact on the entire perimeter of the hole, I don't see any potential issues.
