Hey all! As you can see from my profile, I have a 95' Talon TSi with a hardtop (or slicktop) roof. As cool/rare that is, it sucks not having the sunroof on the car. It'd also be nice to have especially with Tennessee weather being hot as hell and not having A/C at the moment. I have no idea how hard it be to fit the car with a sunroof, although I do understand that it is most likely not even close to possible. (So be easy one me, I'm a newbie LOL

In my hardly educated and naïve theory (or a perfect world that is), I'd have to cut the roof to factory dimensions for a sunroof, put some sort of gasket in the hole and fit the headliner to the new hole, and fit it with a eclipse/talon/avenger sunroof. I'd assume there is no room for wires to make it an automatically adjusting sunroof, so it'd most likely have to be a manually adjusting roof.
Has anyone ever attempted this before, or am I straight dumb for even thinking about this? Who knows! However, I'd like to collect some info on this topic while I work on some of my other DSM problems:hellyeah:

Any information is helpful!
Thanks guys!
(Also I figured I'd throw this into the custom fabrication section of the forums, hope this is in the right spot)

Probably easier to fix the a/c, and more effective at keeping comfortable too, but if sunroof is what you want, then it’s what you want. By no means a radical goal compared to some ideas folks post about. Back in the 70s and 80s there were shops that specialized in adding custom sunroof to cars, but I can’t recall seeing anything like that recently, but worth a search. Definitely has the potential to turn out janky, and leaky if not done well. But I’m sure it could be done with enough time, money, effort. Are you skilled at body work? I like to wrench but wouldn’t attempt something like this....
Finding a doner car, or as Widgmaster suggested, teaming with a sunroof-deleting owner is a good starting place, especially for the headliner (just trade them). You need a good game plan before you reach for the sawzall.

i picked up a 95 gst back in the day, that was originally a solid roof but the previous owner had a sunroof installed on it. It was electric and was decent but i never liked sunroofs.

Donmar makes sunroofs but you can't just buy them, you have to have them install it.
Retail prices range from $525 to $995 when professionally installed.
