When driving after I quickly let off the gas it stalls. It will idle without stalling but the idle is unusually low (500rpms)

I tapped off the fuel pressure regulator bottom tube (solid black) for the boost and tapped the lighting for the gauge to the black/yellow stereo wire which I was told is the dimmer wire.

Its a 94 tsi awd

Im thinking maybe I turned the knob on the back of the fuel pressure regulator? Would that cause this? If so What should i set it at?

The gauge works fine 18mm/hg at idle and boosts to just above 10psi. I dont have a boost controller.

The light on the gauge is working backwards with the dimmer. Meaning when I turn the level down on the main gauge cluster...the boost gauge light lowers.

The HVAC lighting harness was unpluged by accident when installing the gauge and I really dont want to take everything apart again unless it maybe the problem

I have an aftermarket alarm and catback that came with the car if the could affect anything

I have no idea why I am stalling and I need my car to work. HELP!

That is your problem! you are tapping into the wrong thing you need to tap into the Air Line that is connected on the top right corner and has i believe three connections! you need to tap the middle with a T-connection! i will take a pic of my set up tommorow and show you what i mean! do this! connect everything back to normal! and get your car running right! and then we can connect your boost gauge! to be honest with you boost gauge is one of the easiest electronic to install wait til you mess with afc! haah but you prob wont be there for a min! but best of luck with your car and i will post a pic remind me send me pm but make sure you search for "installing boost gauge" use the forum search engine! best of luck!

There is no knob on the the fuel pressure regulator.

Just hook everything up as it was stock and try, try again. Disconnect that wire the boost gauge is connected to. Thats not right.

The knob on the soleniod is what i meant. Do you think wiring the lighting wrong would cause stalling? I just figured out that the dimmer should use 2 wires. The way i did it was black/yellow and ground, as opposed to the right way of black/yellow and green/yellow. Im gonna try that today but i dont think that could be the reason.

There isnt a knob on the fuel pressure solenoid.

Its a dust cover.

you do understand the safety issue of tapping into the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line. imagine this: you're driving and boosting hard, and your bov line decides to let off on either end. all of a sudden you loose fuel pressure and boom....bye bye engine.

also fyi. that is a cali car in the picture, your solenoid setup may be diff if you have a federal car.

I was thinking it was a boost leak! also! but i was not sure! did you fix the problem? and trust me put everything back to normal and yes the boost gauge takes two wires! tap the one with the yellow with green on it like you said! i need to double check! i installed mine and everything went well! i am sorry i will take some pics of my set up today so it gives you an idea? of what you need to achieve! also! take pics of what you did if you can! latez Good luck!

If this wasn't an issue prior to the gauge install, you must have a leak from the T to the gauge . If this indeed is the cause of your stalling after letting off, you have got bigger and more dangerous problems under boost.

I fixed it. Surprisingly it was the gauge light wiring. I took one wire that i was grounding and tapped it to the gree/white wire and the car doesnt stall...but now im having issues with dimming lights which could be unrelated because I just got the car and im still figuring out what needs fixing, but ill put that in a new thread
