Hope this is in the right section. I have decided I better start saving for what's coming and curious any thoughts, ideas, whatever input you guys can give me. It seems as though I will doing a valve job in the not so distant future. I'm needing to know what ALL I am going to be needing to do it. I have a long term goal of 450hp tops, prob. 400. I know e-bay has some npr? pistons for like 80 with the rings. Will those be ok? Can I use the original bottom end (if everything checks out ok). Type of head gasket, valve covers, valve stem seals etc. and brand. Thinking about getting evo turbo, those pistons. I know I'll have to have wideband, ecmlink or something of that sort (any ideas). I don't have tons of money so any ideas would be appreciated so so much. I need to spend as little as possible, but don't want to have to redo everything a year down the road. Thanks in advance.

There's a guy in town that thinks he has one. Hopefully have it tomorrow. With that inlet plugged on the intake pipe though, it runs ok. But I am getting one for sure.

I'm just kind of looking for a "shopping list" so I can make sure I have everything before I tear into it. I don't want to run out of money and be stuck. I just need some help and ideas from everyone to make an actual checklist and thought/ideas for what type or brand should be used.

Ebay is okay for some stuff but I really wouldn't risk using anything from there internally on an engine.

A evo Turbo (assuming your talking about a Evo 3 16g) will not get you to 400-450hp

You wont be needing a "aftermarket" valve cover to make 450hp

The stock bottom end will not hold up to 400-450hp

You dont REALLY need to do a "valve job" unless you want to go for higher RPMs. But then again it couldn't hurt i guess.

If your gonna have the head off to do the headhasket you might as well just dive into the bottom end and get some forged internals.

I wouldnt go with ebay stuff for internals. If something fails inside your motor is gonna be WAY more costly to fix that than it would have been to just buy quality parts, ya know?

I may be completely wrong, but it sounds like you haven't done very much research at all.

Putting together a "shopping list" is going to be damn near impossible since you have 100 different people swearing by different brands. If i were you i would go to the members list and see who's making 400-450hp and then check their profiles for the mods they have.

Also, any plans for an LSD? or are you just hoping your axles dont snap under 450hp?

No, I have not done much research yet. That's why I'm asking. If 400-450 is that much mods, what can I achieve with "basics". Wideband, larger turbo, arp bolts, exhaust, intercooler, etc. 300-350? The valve issue is because I'm pretty sure that's where I'm losing compression. I thought I would get the head potted and polished maybe also, when I have it off. It's a daily driver but want it to be strong too. Arp bolts, gaskets, possibly pistons, new turbo, wideband, logger, what else am I going to need to stout it up without going crazy?
